"Run that by me again." Charlotte sat cross-legged on my bed, as I poured my heart out about the Skype call I thought would make him not want to talk to me again.
"Mark wants to come over..." I wiped my eyes as I paced my room.
"And you don't want him to?"
"I'd love him to! I'm fretting about what other people would think and, frankly, I'm nervous."
Charlotte motioned me to sit next to her and placed an arm around my shoulder. "Screw what other people think, I'll sort them out," This succeeded in making me smile. "Why are you nervous?"
"It's the first time I've liked anyone since Aaron, and-" Charlotte cut me off and laughed sympathetically, squeezing my shoulder.
"Gee, you've got to let him out of your life. It's like he's obstructing you moving forward, and you can't let him do that. How many times do I have to tell you that Mark likes you?"
"Well, yeah, but-"
"No buts! He likes you, and you like him. I say you Skype call him again and sort this out." She saw the panicked look in my eyes and continued. "If you're nervous, I'll do it with you."
I perked up at this and laughed. "You just want to see him again!" She gave me a guilty look, even though she was not ashamed that I was right. "Fine," I nodded. "I'll message him tomorrow night."
She rolled her eyes and gave me a hug. "So, what exactly did he say when you said no?"
My smile turned to sadness and I sighed. "He said that he was jumping the gun and he should be apologising, not me," I shrugged and bit my lip. "He's so sweet, Charlotte, and I'm pretty sure I'm falling for him." I watched as Charlotte glanced at me for a second with a heartbroken look in her eyes, and immediately felt awful for saying anything. "I'm so sorry." I whispered.
At this, my friend looked at me with a puzzled look and grinned. "You're such a banana! Why are you saying sorry?" I gave her a look and she grasped the feeling of my guilt. "You need to stop worrying about me! I'm so happy for you, and I may be a bit jealous sometimes, but can you blame me? You've got this handsome, sexy, kind, caring and amazing man after you," I opened my mouth to say something but she mimed zipping her lips. "And don't you dare bullshit me by saying that he's not interested."
I sighed and moved in to give her the biggest hug I could manage. "Thank you." I mouthed, and she squeezed me tight.

We Skyped Mark the next night, and he seemed thrilled to be talking to Charlotte too, although he could sense her nervousness.
"You know Charlotte," I told him as she covered her face with her t-shirt. "I thought she'd be a bit better by now!"
He laughed and coaxed her to show her face, and saluted a casual greeting to her, to which she grinned from ear to ear. As she regained composure, she spoke to Mark. "She was a bit nervous to Skype, so that's why I'm here." I glared at her suddenly and shoved her on the shoulder.
"What were you nervous about?" He asked, sounding genuinely curious.
I shrugged and shook my head, feeling embarassed, but Charlotte spoke for me again. "About the other night..." I folded my arms and pouted.
He laughed sympathetically. "If you thought I was mad, I honestly wasn't. I realised after you'd hesitated that I shouldn't have mentioned it. Sorry for making you feel uncomfortable."
"Mark, I would honestly love you to!" I blurted, and quickly put my hand over my mouth. Mark and Charlotte both looked shocked, and Charlotte excused herself to the bathroom, either to control her inner fangirl or give us some space, or actually use the toilet.
