Sorry it took so long! I hope you like it!
That's Cobalt on yo sidebar!
Once I explained to Ian about Jo, he calmed down a little. At least, I think he did. He was able to drive the car again, though I offered to take the wheel until he was more stable.
"Okay, so Harting is a devious creep. So what? How does that make this our problem? We met the girl once, that doesn't mean we're responsible to keep her safe."
"Kidnapped, not met," I corrected absently. "And you know that it's our duty to keep Harting from getting her."
"Nuance. Why us though? Call your brother, you always told me he was the do-gooder type. He can take care of it."
"Jasper's got a family now, and I can't keep shoving my problems onto him. Besides, he wouldn't be able to get there in time. Look Ian, we get there, grab Jo, put her on a plane, and get on with our lives. That's it."
Ian looked at me skeptically. "You promise? You're not gonna be like one of those cheesy chickflicks and end up falling in love with her, are you? Because I will cut you."
I rolled my eyes and let my head bang against the window. "No, Ian, no chick flick moments. I swear."
"You're still planning on banging her though, I can tell," Ian stated, a trifle smugly.
"So?" I said defensively. "You can't tell me you weren't thinking the same thing on the first day."
"Yeah, I was. Until the hot blonde stole my car and became a straw-haired rat."
"Whatever. She'll enjoy it just as much as I will." I licked my lips, remembering her chaste kiss in the parking lot. She had been planting her phone in my pocket, but hey, it was still a kiss. And I knew she wanted me. I would have to do my best to satisfy those desires and my own before I sent her away on a plane to god knows where.
"How do you know where she lives?" Ian asked.
"Well, while Jo's plan of leaving her phone to get me caught was good, she also made a fatal mistake. She must not have had time to change her lock screen before she slipped her phone into my pocket, because it's a picture of Harting with her in the background. The picture isn't very good, and it was obviously just a snap shot taken by someone in a hurry. But there was something else in the background. A large picture on the wall of a family in front of a cabin. I couldn't make out the people in the photo, but underneath, there was another picture of a kid in front of a sign. The sign said 'Missoula'."
I pulled my phone out of my bag and tapped the key words in. "And, if my maps are correct, Jo's cabin should be located around there." I held up the screen for Ian to see. Ian glanced over and sighed.
"You're obsessed, man."
"Responsible. I'll put Missoula, Montana in your GPS. With this added advantage, we'll be just about even with Harting's head start."
"Cobalt. Wake up." A sharp blow to my shoulder. "Wake up or I'm throwing you out."
"Huh?" I slowly sat up, blinking the sleep from my eyes.
"We're approaching Missoula," Ian informed me.
"Already? How long was I asleep?"
"Too long. Lazy bastard; you left me to do all of the driving."
"I'll make it up to you. I'll deal with Jo for the rest of the day."
"Always trying to short-change me. You'll deal with the brat until she's gone. Which will be no later than tomorrow." Ian's tone brooked no argument, so I nodded in agreement. I could only push him so far before he refused to budge anymore. And ever since I had made the crazy decision to release Jo, he had been teetering on the limit. Just this last thing, Ian, I promise. Then we'll run, wherever you want to go to start over.
