The once deserted alley now pulsed with an air of forebode as the man stood still, the phone in his hand, as he waited for the other line to pick. His demeanor which held the usual calm was replaced by a brooding intensity as he stared back in thin air. Three times until the voice on the other end answered.

"Who is this?"

"Jeon Mansion, 12:00 p.m. I need to see you, Officer Jun-ho. Alone."

Jun-ho's eyes narrowed. "Mr. Lee, you're a hard man to forget. What makes you think I'll meet with you after you've managed to get my private number?" The silence was oppressive, before Mr. Lee's voice took on a sinister tone.

"Because, Officer, I'm the only one who can give you what you want. And what you want is to close the Kuro case. Am I right?"

"You!"

The silence was oppressive before Officer Jun-ho's agreement cracked the tension, ending the call. Mr. Lee's smirk was a masterclass in smugness, his eyes glinting with a sinister light. But as he turned to leave, he failed to notice the eyes upon him, boring into his skin from the darkness.

His hands swiftly grasped the gadget, before sending out the crucial update.

"Boss, Lee has defected. 12:00 pm. Jeon mansion."

-

We sat grim, as I glanced at Min-Joon. His face laced with seriousness only confirmed my reservations about Jungkook.

"Keep an eye on Y/n, Jimin. That guy didn't sit right with me, especially the way he was flirting with Gyeong-hui."

I could feel the unease creeping before I nodded subtly, my eyes scanning the classroom for Y/n's familiar face. But she was nowhere to be found. A glance at my watch only heightened my unease - class was about to start, and her absence was starting to feel ominous.

"Where are you Y/n?"

An involuntary sigh escaped my mouth as my mind wandered back to that guy - Jeon Jungkook. The news in the morning had already made me paranoid and now hearing Min-Joon's description about him - I couldn't help think otherwise.

Both of us had a lot on plate and this guy seemed to add on to everything. As if sensing my unease the door of the class slided against the hinges paving way for Mrs. Nam, followed by Y/n and - my eyes widened - Jeon Jungkook.

"Why the hell was he with my Y/n?" The first thought that came to my mind as my eyes turned dark at the sight of them being comfortable with each other. My teeth clenched and unclenched before Mrs. Nam finally spoke.

"Guys. As you might have known Mr Jeon will be a part of our class from now on. Why don't we make him feel welcomed?" She smiled at us as the class roared with excitement and claps - especially the girls - I could practically see them drooling over him - I almost scoffed.

More than an eye candy his aura screamed of forebode. This style of a meek guy simply didn't suite him. Like he had carefully prepared everything, an act so to say.

"You're too kind Mrs. Nam. Just call me Jungkook." His pleasantries were definitely a pretense that everyone was gladly falling into, even Mrs. Nam - as I saw her smile at him with a nod.

"Alright Jungkook. Would you like to say something about yourself to the class, before we proceed?"

He nodded, as he turned towards the class, almost as if noting down everyone's faces before his brown orbs stuck on mine and I could swear on god I saw his mask of pretense waver off - even if it were for a second - it definitely did.
