{ Day 5 } I skipped ahead ...

Melanie's P.O.V.

I'm so damn hot right now , I finally decided to go back to work at the shop and just my luck the air conditioner is broke . This California weather right now ain't no joke .

To top it all off Mi'Ohnie wants her damn hair pressed out so I'm extra extra hot .

Chhresanto had the boys in the front with Marcus doing something to their hair . All I know is they better not be cutting it or we're going to have problems .

" Momma am I pretty " Mi'Ohnie asked  me after a while of silence

" No , Your beautiful " I said putting down the flat irons .

She put her head down and I started parting her hair so I could give her a bang . I heard sniffling and I stopped and walked around to her and kneeled down .

" What's wrong " I said lifting her face

" Everybody in the family is so pretty and light and I'm dark . Sometimes I feel like i don't belong with you guys . A lot of girls at my school have a boyfriend and no boys talk to me . They talk about me a lot but not in a good way . " She said wiping her tears but it didn't help at all because more just came out

This is the second time I'm feeling like a failure for a mother . First Melodie thought that Chresanto and I didn't love her and now My oldest baby doesn't feel like she belongs because of her skin .

This generation is crazy and all types of fucked up now a days . Your skin color shouldn't matter or define you . Black is beautiful no matter if your darker than a Hershey Bar or Lighter than a Bannana . Your skin doesn't define who you are , Your mentality does . I looked up at Mi'Ohnie with tears in my eyes .

" Mimi , You are beautiful you hear me ? You have always been beautiful and your only going to get more beautiful as you grow . Your skin is a shade or two darker from your brothers and sisters and that's okay . You have skin like your Paw Paw and my mother . Your brothers and sisters have skin like your dad and I and that's normal . Just because you alls skin isn't the same doesn't mean your any less related . " I said kissing her cheek and running my fingers through her hair .
She sniffed some snot up and wiped her eyes and still held her head low.

" Mi'Ohnie , I don't want you to feel anything less than flawless . You want to know why you're flawless ? " I asked her She lifted her head up and wiped her eyes .

" Why " She asked

" Cause your my daughter , you have the world Mi'Ohnie and you don't even realize it . But you will one day , because soon you'll stop worrying about what other people think about you . You're a diamond not a rhinestone . " I said smiling at her and she smiled at me laughing a little .

" Now , on Monday when you go back to school I want you to walk in with your head held high and I want you to flip your hair in these girls face. " I laughed standing back up

" Ok " She said laughing wiping her face again

I grabbed my comb and started parting again.

Rays P.O.V.

I sat in Meriahs hospital room holding her hand as she looked at me with this cold look in her eyes . She had woken up a couple of hours ago and the doctors finally let me in to see her about 30 minutes ago . We haven't said a word to each other since .

" I missed you " I said breaking the silence Her eyes grew more cold before she swallowed hard .

"You haven't been here to visit me since I've been in this damn hospital . " She spat . I was taken back by her words a little .

" Are you serious . I've been here everyday . Sitting here just looking at you " I said. She rolled her eyes not staring at me .

" I even convinced Mah'Lanah to come up here " I said hoping to see her smile only to see her eyes get filled with dissapointment .

" What's wrong " I asked

" I wish I wouldn't have lost the baby " She said with her head down .

" Me either . " I said sighing .

" I feel like such a failure as a mother " She said as tears fell out of her eyes .

" Why " I asked obviously looking confused as hell .

She sighed as she kept opening her mouth to say something but closing it as her tears kept falling.

I used my thumb to wipe them away and rubbing my other thumb over her hand trying to calm her down .

" Mah' Lanah i- " She started to say before she closed her mouth as more tears fell. I waited for her to get herself to get her still rubbing over her hand.

"The last time Mah'Lanah came to see me she - " She started to say again before stopping biting her lip trying to prevent the tears from falling out of her eyes.

" Ray Mah'Lanah she's ..  she's " She started to say before she burst out crying again .

" Mah'Lanah what Meriah ? What about her " I asked getting worried a little .

But as soon as it came it left beside as far as I was concerned Mah'Lanah was still at Melanie's House where I left her .

" Ray , Our Babies Pregnant " She said crying so hard

It felt like my whole world stopped and went into slow motion and I couldn't make out anything that was going on . Did she just say my 16 year old daughter is pregnant ? As in carrying a offspring . As in she had sex , without a condom . No scratch that she had sex period .

" Ray , She's living with her babies father .... He's Richards son " She said looking at me with her face red as a tomato and so much hurt and pain in her eyes . Everything I saw after that was red .
