Maggie runs a hand through Charlotte's hair as she breathes heavily, staring at the same spot for the past hour.
"You're ok kid, I got you"
"Maggie" She whispers. "Yeah?"
"Is he real? Did you see him too?"
"He's real, we found him about six months ago at a WCKD faculty he was still breathing and we patched him up" Charlotte finally moves tilting her head to look at the woman.
"T-the other boy, who was with him?"
"I'm sorry"
Charlotte nods knowing it was too much to hope for her Chuckles to be alive too. She couldn't imagine the guilt Gally carried.
"C-can I talk to him?" Maggie pauses. "You've had a long day, how about we try again tomorrow?" "Ok" she closes her eyes. She was so tired.
Maggie made sure to check the room three times for anything sharp before telling Gally to take off anything that she could use to hurt herself with before he came in. She was sitting on her bed, head in her hands.
"H-hey" Gally croaks out. "Hi" She looks up, heart pounding fast, telling herself it wasn't real.
"Maggie told me everything," Charlotte says. "She told me everything to" He nods to her.
"I'm a little crazy now" "You already were" He smiles.
Standing up she slowly walks over Gally opening his arms as she walks into them leaning into her brother.
"I love you" "I love you too" Charlotte sniffs, at least if she didn't have the others she had him, a piece of what she had lost.
"Where is everyone else?" Gally asks. "I don't know, they took me. Teresa betrayed us" Gallys jaw tightens, he never liked the girl.
"Everyone's alive? Fry? Newt?" "To my knowledge" She nods sitting back on the bed Gally next to her.
"What did they do to you Char?" He noticed several new visible scars across her face.
"Oh no I did those, tried to escape even if it wasn't WCKD" Gally knew what she was implying. "Me too" He rolls up his sleeves.
"Are we weak?" Charlotte asks. "How so?"
"I mean trying to just leave" Gally pauses, "I think we are shucked up in the head, definitely not weak. I mean I got shish kabobed" Charlotte snorts. "And then held at WCKD before breaking out, waking up to thinking all my friends were dead, killing Chuck"
He swallows hard Charlotte patting his knee.
"And you, you were in WCKD for five months without anyone or anyway out" "I can't tell what's real anymore" Charlotte admits.
"They did these simulations, made me watch everyone die, betrayed me, murder me. I watched you die so many times "
"Sorry Char, but you're stuck with alive me" Charlotte smiles, laying her head on the boy's shoulder.
"At least we have each other," Gally says. "We will find them," She says, determined.
"Knowing them, they will find us"
Charlotte had been there for two weeks now, Maggie decided it was safe enough for her to be around other people and start training, that's what they've been doing a lot of. "Duck" Charlotte does just in time as her sparring partner, she thinks his name is Bryan swings his knife at her.
"Pause" Maggie sighs as the two step back. "Charlotte you're holding back"
"I a-" "You are! I know you don't want to hurt him, but you need to practice. You're weak right now and working on your physical health is top priority that means, working out, sparing, and actually eating your meals"
Welp she was caught red handed.
"Thanks Bryan, you can go with Dan" The boy nods to Charlotte before walking off. "What's up?"
Charlotte sighs. "I just don't want the dreams to take over when I'm fighting, I could actually hurt someone"
"Control, you need to learn control. Come on fight me ""Just have Gally fight you he-"
"Charlotte!" She snaps. Grumbling under her breath Charlotte lifts up her fists. "Hit me" Grumbling under her breath Charlotte steps forward to hit Maggie but the woman easily dodges it.
"Hit me" She lunges again and misses. "Hit me!"
Anger takes over and Charlotte waits a moment before going to punch while the woman is distracted by that she swipes Maggie's legs out from under her and she falls to the ground with a thud. Grabbing the knife that fell out of Maggie's hand she quickly places it to the woman's neck.
"I can take care of myself, don't doubt I can. I just don't want to punch someone for 'training'" She throws the knife down standing up and walking off.
Maggie sits up smiling at the girl proudly. "Good job!"
Charlotte lifts up her middle finger.
"I want to find them" Charlotte says one night, she and Gally were laying on his bed, him with a book and her with her thoughts.
"It's not safe, and we have absolutely no idea where they are"
"There my family Gal" She says a tear falling down her face.
"I'm your family too, don't forget that. And I won't lose you for a second time for a slim chance that we find them"
"Ga-""I'm serious Charlotte" His face goes stern as he sets his book to the side.
"You are all I have"
"I love him" She breathes out. "I know" He pulls her to his side rubbing her arm.
"I'll make a deal with you, once you've finished training and are completely healthy, if you still want to go we will. But only together "
"You mean it?" "Yes" "Thanks" Gally smiles at the girl.
