"What are you doing here?" he asks me, his eyes raking over my drenched body and widening. Instantly, he opens the door further, allowing me to slip inside and grab a towel from somewhere, handing it to me.
My sobs may have taken a backseat f...

Fuck no.
I was having such a good day.
Why does he have to come here and ruin it for me as if the media wasn’t already enough?
And look, oh my God, this idiot— my ex-husband — has a smirk on his face like he’s got anything on us at all. I’m so terrified he’ll open his stupid mouth and ruin the rest of the night for me that I sidestep him and his parents with the intention of walking out. Aayansh huffs a laugh behind me but follows nonetheless, his hand resting on my waist as he steers us out.
When I don’t hear Neil following us, I let out a sigh of relief.
Too early.
His voice cuts through the air and I instantly cringe. “Have you allowed him between your legs yet?”
I freeze, still trying to process his words. Aayansh’s hold on me tightens. The room to our engagement party is right in front of us. All I have to do is take a few steps, open the door and forget I ever even saw Neil’s face but it’s the way he speaks that stops me. Disdain mixed with anger. I slowly turn to look at him and narrow my eyes. “Excuse me?”
Neil scoffs like I’m being ridiculous. “Are you suddenly deaf or did he fuck your ears real bad too?”
Aayansh cracks his neck and in the next second, Neil is up against the wall with Aayansh’s arm slammed to his neck, cutting off his breathing. “The fuck did you just say?”
Rajlakshmi and Mahesh gasp, both their hands trying to pry Neil from Aayansh’s grasp but he’s unrelenting. Fierce rage is written all across his face and even though I’m scared the situation will escalate more than it needs to, I’m stuck, unable to comprehend what’s going on.
“You think Anaya is with you because she loves you?” Neil spits, uncaring of the fury in Aayansh’s eyes. “Be so fucking for real man. We were married for three years and this bitch wouldn’t let me come close to her. I don’t think we ever even sat down and had a nice talk or went out or exchanged gifts.” Neil shakes his head and his eyes widen as if he’s trying to coax Aayansh into believing his words. “She’s with you for your money man. Like she was with me! And now that I’m brok—” His mouth slams shut, realising what he was about to say.
Aayansh smirks, looking hot as hell in his lilac traditionals, holding the pathetic ass man to the wall, and tilts his head. “You’re what now?”
Neil rears back, clearly shocked. “That’s not what matters right now! What does is that she’s a goddamn whore and you’re better off without her! Don’t you get it? I’m trying to save you here man!!”
Aayansh’s lips press in a thin line and he unceremoniously drops Neil to the floor. “Really?” he asks and makes a show of keenly thinking before he holds out his hand for me. Neil’s brows furrow as he watches me put my hand in Aayansh’s and he pulls me close, his scent engulfing me.
