Drake was positioned on top of the keep, ready for another day filled with crime. This was his biggest heist in months!
He hated to admit it, but he was out of action, the last couple months. But this day made him very giddy, like modern day people listening to "Sugar" on a nice afternoon. Imagine stealing from a royal palace. If you pulled it off, your friends would be reward with tofu burgers. Nothing could've made him happier. He put on his hood and jumped down the castle.
Inside, it looked even more spacious than it looked outside. Several floors towered above, each with a huge network of doors. The first floor was mainly composed of decoration. Marble pillars lined the sides. Expensive paintings were attached on the walls, including a few tapestry arts. Tapestry was very hard to make and very expensive to buy. You had to sew each thread perfectly to create the nice effect you would want, and dying the specific thread mattered too. Wrong color, wrong atmosphere. If he tried to make one, he would probably make one small horizontal line in a day. Imagine, doing it all by hand, since there were no sewing machines back then. Same applies to shirts. They were very hard to make. If you looked closely at your shirt, millions of thread criss-crossed forming the pattern your shirt has. It took days to make a plain shirt. What if you wanted a pattern? You would have to plan the specific dye and all. Blankets and curtains? Forget about it! Unless you could find a really good sewer. Tall stairs spiraled to the top on the end of the room. Several hoplites walked around the main floor carrying spears that were at least 8 feet tall. A small platform was connected to one of the walls near the spiraled stairs. Mini Ballistas were attached to it. Though Drake wasn't sure how they worked since no one would fit on the space of the platforms. Actually, the outside was heavily defended. About 20 guards were formed in a line on the entrance, each carrying a steel sword and a shield as big as them. Two watchtowers, well, took watch when the hoplites slacked off.
Nevertheless, Drake was happy he started on the second floor. Otherwise, he would've been chicken meat.
Drake looked around the second floor. A long hallway extended into another pair of stairs. Golden chandeliers hanged on top of the room, which provided good lighting. Another network of doors presented themselves, but Drake knew where some of these lead. He remembered what his companion, Dudley, told him before he proceeded to the keep
"The 3rd door on the second floor is what your looking for. DO IT FOR THE TOFU BURGERS!"
He took his shiv and unlocked the door. The door opened up to a small set of stairs. "What do they have with stairs?" Drake muttered. The stairs led into another hallway. The hallway, wasn't as decorated as the others. It was mainly a stone pathway that lead into a set of stairs the spiraled upwards. The only light that provided him were the torches that lined the walls. Now, all he had to do was find where they kept the money, which meant he had to check each and every door that were in the hallway which had to be about 6. "Sure, why not?" Drake muttered again. He liked to ask questions, even if no one was around. He would mutter questions and assume they were answered. The first had a sign of a sword engraved in it. Drake checked the keyhole to see what was inside. Piles of swords were placed on weapon racks that lined the walls. Shields of different sizes were attached on the walls, each with different designs, material, and what not. "Of course" he muttered. The second door had no sign on it. He looked up the hole and saw piles of cheese stacked on top of each other. Now, he really wanted those Tofu Burgers. The third door was the jackpot.
"It's always the third" Drake opened the door and found piles of coins overflowing in a barrel. He opened his pouch and put in as much as he can. He could carry the barrel, but that would take too much work.
"Well, well... What do we have here?" A voice said behind him. Drake immediately knew what was going on. He turned around and slowly reached for his shiv. "Hello sir"
