IT WAS PITCH BLACK. THE FARTHER we went the darker it was. It took a lot of time for me to adjust to the darkness.
We were looking for the staffroom and still we hadn't found it. I was beginning to question the authenticity of Gary's prediction.
Even though I couldn't see well, Ash seemed perfectly used to it. Does he have cat eyes?
To not get lost, I had grabbed ahold of Ash's sleeve. He twitched a bit when I did so, and I had expected a smug comment or a shrug-off but he didn't say anything.
The slight shift in character made me wonder if it was actually Ash and that thought led to another until I was scared.
Great. Now I have scared myself into thinking that I might be holding onto a ghost.
I glanced at him; he was looking straight ahead. With a nervous shudder, I reached out to pinch his cheek.
"Ouch," He winced, stepping away. "What the hell, Serena?"
"S-Sorry," I stammered, getting hold of his sleeve again as we kept walking. "I wanted to check if you were, well, you."
"You didn't possibly think that I was a ghost, did you?"
"Sorta did."
Just as we were talking, suddenly —
"KYAAAAAA!" Gary screamed, running at us at full speed. Before we could react, he collided with us, giving us no time to move out of the way.
He leapt at Ash, jumping on him, and in the process, knocked me to the floor as I rolled over to the side like a ragdoll.
Ouch.
"Gary! What the heck?!" Ash hissed, trying to get the porcupine, who had locked his legs around him in a deathly chokehold, off him. "Get off of me!"
"ITS-STHEBLOOD-DYMARY!" Gary spoke so fast that it was impossible to make out what he was saying.
"What are you saing?!" I yelled as I turned to look at the same time.
As I turned around, I came face-to-face with the entity that had scared the shit out of Gary. His voice ecoed from behind me just as I spoke.
"Dee?"
"Its the Bloody Mary — wait, what?"
"Serena." Dawn narrowed her panda eyes. Did I just hear a full-stop? Uh-oh.
"Who is this?" Ash asked as Gary climbed off him, more like he was forced to get down.
Dawn ignored them completely, her blue eyes piercing through my soul. "What are you doing here?"
