As Iris walked towards the area she heard the sounds coming from, she saw something. Something that made her stop in her tracks. All she did was state at an open grassy area. What did she see, you ask? She saw two foxes pouncing at and fighting each other. That's where all those noises were coming from. She noticed that one of those foxes were Eclipse... Why did he get into another fight? It can't be Moonlight again because she is dead. Iris even watched Eclipse kill Moonlight. Iris quietly shuffled a bit closer to the fighting foxes to try and make out the other fox. When Iris realized who that other fox was, her eyes widened.
It was Maple, a fox that Iris met when she was younger. A lone fox who doesn't have a clan or family of her own.
Why was Maple fighting Eclipse though? Iris suddenly remembered what Maple had said to her when she was a young fox. She remembered that Maple told Iris that she wanted nothing to do with other foxes, it was something with her past. That only puzzled Iris more. If she didn't want anything to do with other foxes then why was she fighting with Eclipse? Iris felt the need to run over to the two foxes and yell at them to stop. She didn't want to get injured, not again at least.
Iris finally snapped out of her thoughts and ran over to Eclipse and Maple in a panic. Her eyes wide with fear and her mind racing with thoughts. Because she was running so fast, grass and dirt were being thrown into the air! She ran into Maple and tumbled down the hill with her. Eclipse just stared at the two in shock, he was also trying to figure out what Iris was trying to do. Maple yelped as Iris crashed into her body, tumbling down the hill with her.
Iris jumped up and pulled Maple back up. "What are you doing? Fighting with my mate?" Iris yelled at Maple, her fear and panic replaced with anger. Eclipse was a bit surprised at being adressed as Iris's 'mate'. Maple stared at Iris in disbelief. She knew that Iris lived her in this forest but she didn't know it was this area! Maple tried to say something but she didn't even know what to say. She blinked a few times before trying to speak to Iris.
     "I-Iris! I-"
"I don't want to hear it! I want you to tell me why you were fighting with Eclipse! This is the second time that he has gotten into a fight this month!" Iris glared at Maple with a cold look in her eyes. Maple was left there stunned. The last time she saw Iris she wasn't this bold. She was a sweet little fox kit.
"Remember what I told you, right? When you were just a small little fox kit?" Maple quickly uttered to Iris. Iris's cold glare softened at Maple's words.
"...I remember." She quietly responded, her soft voice laced with a hint of realization. Eclipse continued to look at the two in confusion. Why was a fox that Iris knew, or a fox that knew Iris, fighting him?
"I don't like foxes. I fight every single one I see except small ones and friends. I would never attack such vulnerable fox cubs, nor would I attack my own friends. You see, I thought that Eclipse was just an ordinary fox! I didn't know that he was your...Uh...Mate?" Maple explained to Iris. But what Maple didn't know was that Eclipse wasn't just some ordinary fox, he was a fox of a strong and secretive clan.
"Eclipse isn't just an ordinary fox. He kills animals! He tries to kill me once for a mission his leader assigned him to do! He is part of a strong and secretive clan–a powerful one." Iris said bravely. Eclipse was still watching them, a bit proud of Iris.
"Kills...? That fox over there kills animals? He tried to kill you once?" Maple looked over to Eclipse who just stared at her awkwardly. Then she looked back at Iris, waiting for her answer.
"Well, yes..." Iris quietly answered Maple's question. "Anyway, tell me why you don't like foxes! Like you said, you attack one every time you even see a fox that isn't a kit, one of your close friends or relatives!"
Maple looked away from her and sighed. She wasn't ready to tell Iris yet. She wasn't ready to tell anyone
