'Man, I am so wasted!' Sadie slurred, as a group of us piled back into the cabin drunken disorderly and reeking of alcohol and shame.
Penny immediately kicked her feet into the air, both heels flying off across the room. 'I'm starving, let's order pizza!'
'It's 3 o'clock in the morning, Pen, nobody's out delivering pizza to the middle of the forest,' Cal laughed, heading straight for the fridge for a water. He never got drunk but he did have a few beers and they were always followed by a bottle of water before bed to avoid a headache in the morning.
'Well that's dumb,' Penny huffed, throwing herself back onto the sofa.
'We could cook something!' Tori screeched, pulling off her jacket and dropping it to the floor.
'Yes, let's cook some macaroni and cheese!' Sarah gasped, clapping her hands together. 'I love macaroni and cheese when I'm drunk.'
She hooked an arm around my neck and pulled me against her with a giggle. Had I been sober, I would've found it weird and uncomfortable but after a night at a local bar getting drunk with her, I laughed and hugged her back. She was actually cool and funny and far too good for that asshole upstairs. He'd refused to join us, obviously, and everyone was relieved. Sarah seemed a different person without him joined to her hip. She was a lot more carefree and comfortable expressing herself.
'Somebody get the macaroni, I'll cook it,' Charlie grunted, before face-planting the opposite sofa to Penny.
'You can't cook, you can't even talk!' Tori cackled, sitting in the armchair and pulling Sadie down into her lap. She pointed to where Brodie was leaning against the doorframe trying to steady himself. 'Bradie can cook well; he can make it.'
'It's Brodie, bitch,' he slurred, pressing his fist to his mouth. 'I think I'm gonna' throw up.'
He launched for the stairs and everyone groaned.
'I'm sure Nurse Olivia will rub your back for you if she's not too busy researching how to become even more fucking boring!' Sadie called after him.
I clicked my tongue. 'Sadie, stop. She might hear you.'
'I hope she does,' she muttered, curling into Tori and closing her eyes.
'That's enough,' Cal warned, his voice stern and serious. 'I don't want anymore dramas, okay. She might be boring to you but she's done nothing wrong and she's here on vacation with us so have a little respect.'
'You have a little respect,' Sadie murmured, like a child.
'Where the fuck is Georgie?' I asked, looking around for him.
Cal pointed out of the open door. 'Passed out on the footbridge I think.'
I gasped and spun around, losing my balance and falling against the wall. 'Oh no, I need to get him inside.'
Cal rolled his eyes. 'I'll get him. You get up to bed.'
I nodded and made way for the stairs, smiling stupidly at myself over how fun our night had been.
After a few bumps at the start of the vacation, we had all decided to go out for drinks, excluding Felix and Olivia. I hadn't been surprised that Felix didn't want to attend but I'd expected Olivia to join us at least for Brodie's sake. She'd said something about not drinking on Thursdays anymore as it didn't align with her spiritual something; the rest of us headed out without hesitation and immediately hit the shots.
I stumbled into my room and sat on the end of the bed, pulling my boots off before falling back and staring at the ceiling which was swirling around.
I heard footsteps enter the room, followed by Cal's amused voice. 'Carried Georgie to his bed and he asked me to spoon-. Bethan?'
