The ocean murmured lowly just beyond the windows, its soft crashes barely reaching the beach house's living room where Roman lay across the couch, legs tangled in a thick warm blanket. The remote had long since slipped from his hand, somewhere under a pillow or between the cushions, forgotten in the moment of whatever horror movie played on the screen. The flickering glow of the television painted his face in blue and white flashes.

"Jesus!" Roman jerked as a sudden screech pierced the speakers, nearly spilling the half-eaten popcorn in his lap. He blinked hard, turning to the blond, "What the fuck was that?"

Will snorted beside him.

The blond was also draped over the corner of the couch with one leg hooked over the edge and the other nudging Roman's knee with teasing kicks. His arm was casually resting along the back of the sofa behind Roman's neck, fingers barely grazing the edge of his shoulder blade.

"You knew that was coming," Will said with a grin. "They showed the guy behind the curtain like, ten seconds ago."

Roman glared, his jaw set tight. "I was looking at the lady running away not behind the fucking couch."

"You mean you were looking at the blanket you keep covering your face with?" Will corrected with a teasing glint, poking his finger into Roman's shoulder.

"I wasn't hiding." The dark-haired boy glared.

Will grinned with a sarcastic nod, his voice soft and lazy, "Right,"

Another jump scare crackled through the speakers and just as expected, Roman flinched hard once again.

Will snorted with laughter, throwing his head back. "Oh my god. That one wasn't even scary!"

Roman yanked the blanket up to his chin like it could shield his dignity. "Why are we watching this again?"

"Because you said," Will mimicked in a mocking tone, "'Let's put on something actually interesting'" The blond had this mocking tone.

"I didn't say it like that." The dark-haired boy glared.

"You said it exactly like that." Will leaned forward, the heat and his body edging so closely to Roman's body.

They ended up snuggled between the couch cushions after hours spent dazing in the sun's heat. Roman had convinced Will to watch something with him, not expecting to be watching horror movies. He hated horror movies, and worst of all, Will is here making fun of him. Either way, the screams dulled the soft movements of the boys, Will's arm loose and slightly curved around Roman. The dark-haired boy's head rested on the blond's shoulder for a quick moment before he jumped in fear, only to return back.

It was all simple and too familiar, the idea of Roman's fingers brushing Will's hand or thigh seeming far from 'repulsing' and more normal.

Still, even if it all felt normal, Will couldn't focus on the movie with Roman so closely. The warmth and smell of the dark-haired boys. The pressure of his thigh brushing Will's. The feel of his pattering breath. Will liked it all too much, and just for a moment, he allowed himself to indulge and idly run his fingers through Roman's curls.
