It was stupid.

Immature.

Reckless.

But it was something they did regularly.

Roman watched with clenched fists as the blond rose from the floor. Eyes fixated on Roman, brows furrowed, his tongue sweeping over his bleeding lip. He looked ready to beat the shit out of Roman... which he kinda already was.

Roman, however, wasn't as smooth or filled with precision as Will. Instead he moved purely on hope. He'd swung his arm until something hit, while Will picked his shots. He hunched over at times to catch his breath, while Will always stood straight.

Except now he was lunging at Will's chest, plunging them onto the rough concrete floor. Roman relentlessly tried to punch the blond's thick skull only for them to be blocked by his forearms.

Gravel dug into Roman's shoulder and blood pooled against his tongue. Through it all he managed to land a punch on Will's stomach- who groaned and pushed Roman over roughly to straddle him.

It was a simple glance. Like their many dumb fights, it always started with a look.

One look. A slipped grin. And then another arm swung.

Roman felt Will's hand grab his jaw before his taunting voice filled his ear, "Already tired?"

"Shut the fuck up." Roman gritted through his teeth. He managed to connect a fist to Will's lower side again and grabbed his shirt to force him off.

How the hell does he hit so hard? Roman couldn't help but think as his cheek stung.

He never knows when to quit. Will thought as he pushed through the pain coursing through his abdomen.

They pushed themselves up. Neither one rushing this time. They tried to find a moment to strike, but between the sweat and blood dripping down his neck and Will's stomach feeling like his organs could tumble out of him any second- it seemed impossible.

A crowd had formed around the two. What else did they expect from a public school in a shitty area?

They never fought like this. It was simple insults or comments spat at each other in class or the hall. Or maybe heated arguments in the parking lot.

But fuck, this felt way more satisfying than a stupid insult. They've been going at it relentlessly for five minutes, with no proof of it ending anytime soon.

It was a few minutes before first period, Will was waiting against his car with a few other people while Roman passed by. Will supposedly glanced too "insultingly" at Roman which pissed him off (not a difficult thing to do) and the next thing he knew, the two were exchanging insults, and then Roman's fist was thrown. Things seemed to escalate after that.
