Why do the teachers have meetings every single week? I thought in my head while staring at my biology book. Our exams are a few months away and now, another day is wasted. Sighing in frustration, I leaned back to rest my head on the back of the chair. The library was as usual empty since, nobody likes to study in this college.

'December 9,' I slowly whispered and closed my eyes. It was the day... the day, my father died in a horrible car accident. I can't believe it's been a year already and yet, my life is still going on. 'Ah,' I sighed but didn't realise when my eyes got filled with tears. Looking up at ceiling, I cried. 'Dad! Why did you have to leave? Why? It's all my fault that you are gone. I always told you to come back safely every time you left but just... Just this one day I couldn't say it... and you never came back.' Tears had started running down my slightly chubby cheeks that had gone pink due to crying.

'Hey Aura! I've been looking for you.' My best friend Akiko's squeaky voice brought me out of my thoughts. 'Wanna go out for lunch? We don't have any class now.'

I lifted my head wiping my tears with the sleeve of my purple jumper and turned towards her while resting my arm on the back of my chair.

'No Akiko, not today. I have somewhere to go, sorry.' I said with an apologising expression on my face.  Hey you alright?' She asked with her voice full of concern.
'Y-yeh why?' I tried to avoid her gaze. 'Your eyes looks red, is everything ok?' Akiko knew about today so she was worried about tired you see' I lied rubbing my eyes.  'Oh ok, cheer up buddy!' She slapped my shoulder smiling. 'Are you sure about not going to lunch?' she asked again in hope and mouthed sorry breaking her hopes.

Akiko pouted and said, 'Ok,' in a grumpy voice. I gave her a grateful smile. She always looked so cute when she is irritated, I concluded. Akiko looked like a little child with small almond shaped brown eyes and a long face with high cheekbones.

Her skin colour was quite fair but she always looked a little pale, as if she were sick.

I got up, gathering my things together, I said, 'Bye Akiko! See you tomorrow.'

Swiftly, heading towards the door. I touched my student card on the screening laser to go out and started heading towards Hoxton street, opposite my house. I stopped at a flower shop on my way to buy a bouquet of yellow roses; my dad's favourite. Suddenly, I stopped in front of Barbican theatre Wesley, the very same place where my dad was cruelly crushed under a van while he was crossing the road.

My whole vision became blurry as my eyes filled with water. I slowly bent down to place the flowers I had bought earlier against the small fence which was still bent due to the collision with the van. I spent an hour and a half sitting in the bench on the same spot as one side had become quite rusty looking. Staring at the sky, I looked at the sun's rays. The warm red and orange colour with a slight purple tint spread across the sky and filled me with warmth. I wasn't a big fan of  winter but now, I felt that it depicted my inner feelings perfectly, especially the sunset.

Even though it was only 4 o' clock but it was getting dark so, I had to leave quickly. Getting up from the bench, I felt a bit of chill through my thin tights,  maybe wearing a black leather pleated knee long skirt wasn't such a good idea.  Feeling a shiver, I hugged my purple jumper to myself to preserve some heat. As I started heading towards home I saw a flock of birds flying.

They must be going to their home, I thought. Home. That simple word felt so heavy. Home is where family is and my family is incomplete. Feeling a tear roll down my face I started my journey towards 'home'.
