Chapter 16: Anger

It has been two weeks since the holidays ended and every became so busy in their studies that we didn't even have time to see each other. The only time I now see Adrian is when we have tutor time. That is the only time when me, him and Akiko chat around. Adrian has become quite close to each of my other friends and I am really happy about it. They all seem to like him a lot, especially Lexi, the only thing that I hate is when they make up stuff about me and Adrian. Eva also told everyone that we are dating, I mean how ridiculous is that?

'We are not dating we are just friends guys, good friends. And THAT IS it!' I've told them this so many times but they don't seem to understand. However, sometimes I think there is something more than just friendship between me and Adrian, but I just don't seem to quite put my finger on it, especially that feeling of getting electrocuted due to his touch.

ARGGHHHHH!!!!!

Several other students stepped in along with me, possessing the same enthusiasm as me, as I entered  the big gate. I stopped by the lockers in the common room, in a different building situated to the left. As I was shoving my stuff in my bag from the locker, I saw someone leaning against the it from the corners of my eyes, but I couldn't see the face as I was too busy putting my stuff in the bag.

'Hey!' I spun around on my heels hearing Adrian's charming voice. 'Heyy!' I said delightly, 'What's up?' 'Hmm, nothing much,' he sighed and spoke straightening up. I wanted carry on the conversation but was cut off by Akiko shouting my name at the top of her lungs from the door, making her way through the group of people.

'AUURRRAAAA! ... There you are!' Akiko huffed, 'I-I've been looking for you all over the place.'

Before I could say anything she pulled me into an airtight hug, cutting of my air supply. 'Awww Aura my grown up girl, I missed you so much sis!' she squeaked sounding just  like my mother. I also realised what the hug was about as it was tighter than the usual hug. 'Why? Why Akiko? Why in front of him?' I mourned in my head.

'Akiko... I can't... breath' I managed to barely wheeze out as I felt light headed.

It was surely Akiko as she squeezed me even more before releasing me from her strangling hug. Adrian cocked his head to the side staring at us like a curious child and... he looked sooo cute that I almost awed out loud.

Being with me and my friends for quite some time, Adrian was able to interpret that there was something unusual about this particular Akiko's hug.

'Hiya Adrian!' Akiko chirped.

'What was that all about Akiko?' he threw a question at her instead of replying to her greeting. Again, his confused expression was so cute that it almost put me off my internal pleading to Akiko but I managed to ignore it and focused by closing my eyes.

After closing my eyes, I started chanting in my head, Please Akiko don't tell him! again and again in my head like a mantra with my finger crossed. However, this was Akiko and she has to blab out everything, so as expected... she did.

'Oh you don't know?' she raised an eye brow at Adrian and continued cheerfully without looking at my pleading expression, 'It's Aura Birthday today!' she announced for everyone to hear. A few people standing near us heard and wished me happy birthday. And of course, I blushed a bit and politely thanked them while holding back the urge to punch Akiko. So, in order to avoid ruining anyone else's mood, I just closed my locker with a loud bang to show my irritation.

I hated this day, I always hated celebrating my birthday, being an exceptional child in the world, I guess. I always feel embarrassed whenever anyone wishes me happy birthday, especially when it comes to cutting the cake. As much as I hated doing that thing which I think is a bit childish, I always have to do it every year in front of the whole college. Thanks to my wonderful, popular and loving friends.
