Garrick speeds down the road.

Is he as excited as me?

Doubt fills my stomach as we near the destination. Should I make a move??

"Garrick, this is a cliff." I say uncertainly when we reach his "spot".

"Wow. I didn't notice." He replies sarcastically giving me an adorably unamused look.

"How are we going to get up there?" I ask.

Without replying, he makes his way around the huge rock, to a small path that winds steeply upward. He starts to climb and I follow, excitement clawing at my belly with every step.

When we get to the top, I take a nice long gaze at the Colorado landscape. I'm frozen in place at the sight of its elegance.

"Beautiful, huh?" Garrick's voice surprised me.

"...Yeah..." I say, still dazed.

"It's even better over there." He hints.

I find the power to move my legs to follow the pretty brunette. He sits on the cliff, legs dangling off the edge and I do the same, our hands nearly touching on the cold rock. And then I remember that I'm only wearing a t-shirt.

I start to get goosebumps and try my hardest not to shiver.

"Are you cold?" Garrick asks.

"Yeah, I was so excited to see the sunset that I rushed out the door with you before grabing a coat." I recall.

"Stupid." He says teasingly, warmth filling his tone. He slides off his coat and gives it to me.

"But you'll get cold, Garrick." I protest.

"I'm used to it. I have a sweatshirt and a coat; with both on I'm sweating. So shut up and take it." He says with a smile.

Warmth pierces my heart, in the best way imaginable, as I slip on his coat.

It smells like him.

As the blinding yellow sphere in the sky sinks below the sillouette of the Colorado mountains, a pool of red, pink, purple, and blue fill the sky.

Should I...

I move my hand closer to Garrick's so that they're touching.

He hasn't noticed??

I slowly lean on his shoulder, gradually shifting my weight to his side, hoping to catch his attention soon and make this an even more memorable moment.

Nothing??

With one last dying effort, I put my hand on top of his.

Please do something, acknowledge me, reject me, I don't care. Let me know you understand, Garrick!

All of the sudden he sighs, it sounds like relief, and he lies his head on my shoulder and intertwines his fingers with mine.

Surprised and relieved, I squeeze his hand and kiss his head before placing mine on top of his.

Finally.
