Nice For What

"Maybe I should put in a request for fire-resistant gym uniforms," Jay suggested as he put a shirt over his head.

"Doubt they'd listen. If they have to block out Kai''s, they'd have to block out everyone else's, cause of course..." Cole began.

"Kai would have a fit and burn down the school..." Jay groaned. "Why don't they just let him have his tantrum and call his parents?! Kai's 18, he should be old enough to not get angry!"

"And you should be old enough to not still need floaties," Lloyd chuckled as he walked past, stuffing his things in his gym locker. "What pisses me off is that we have to share lockers now, something about not having enough money to also build new lockers!"

He slammed the door shut and shook his head. "How can you build a whole new part of the school, but not another locker room with it? It's the principal of these things man."

'To be frank," Zane began. "We weren't using the other side much really. Maybe like four or five of us. It's not many elemental masters in the world. Before the girls got here, there were maybe... a hundred of us?"

Lloyd groaned and grabbed Zane by the shoulders, shaking him dramatically. "It's not about the stats, Zane! It's about principles! The class! The order!"

Zane slowly pushed Lloyd away. "I'm sure losing a few lockers will not cause that many issues in the long run."

"So, if you two are done talking about lockers, we've got a game to survive." Cole disclaimed.

The boys gulped. Every year, and yet they still weren't too used to Kai's onslaught. Every year, Kai turned their annual dodgeball game into a trial by fire. Literally. Kai was normally the first to leave the locker room as well, so they knew he was already on the court...

"Think Kai's already out there warming up?" Lloyd asked.

"Obviously," Jay said grimly. "He probably has spots mapped out to launch fireballs from, too. Maximum output, you know?"

The boys noticed Griffin, Karlof, and Shade standing up to go out first, shocking them.

"You guys are leaving pretty quick? Normally it's a race to see who can leave the last!" Jay pointed out.

"Typically, I'd agree, but... the princess offered me a good time if I took the hits for her., sooo!" Griffin exclaimed. Wait, what? Didn't seem like Harumi to be the one that would trade her body for... dodgeball protection?

"He's not the only one! The little cute blonde from Shintaro also offered up! Definitely wasn't missing out on that!" Shade added.

This caused Cole's face to scrunch up. Vania? Acting like THAT? That was anything but her. She didn't seem to have changed from the sweet and kind- well, when she wasn't around him. But Vania was never the "naughty" type.

Jay noticed Cole's face and decided to get back for the pillow throwing earlier this morning. "Heh, looks like your friend isn't as sweet as she used to be, but Shade might find out."

Cole shot Jay a glare that could damn the souls of the living a thousand times over, causing the boy to back away and shrink down. "My fault."

"Karlof too got an offer."

This again got everyone's attention.

"Who the hell would give you the time of day?" Lloyd raised an eyebrow as Jay began to laugh.

"Oh man! Watch it be Skylor! Kai's gonna have a-"

"Raven-haired girl with ponytail. Karloff believes her to be Kai's sister." He revealed. Jay's laughter suddenly turned into a cough as his eyes widened and he looked at Karloff.
