Emma's P.O.V

Upon arrival at the park Ariel, ran to play with some of her friends, my mom's neighbours kids, while Grant and I sat in an uncomfortable silence.

"Ummm, Ems? How old is Ariel?", he inquired; oblivious to the fact that my heart skipped a beat.

Ems. Ems. Ems. Ems

"Huh? " he said when I didn't respond

Well I guess its time to come clean. Well for some things.

"Ariel is one, she's going to be two in two weeks time." I replied

"WOW! Ohhk" he said looking as if in deep thought.

"Yea"

"Emma why did you leave? Why? You were here this minute then you weren't the next. I woke up to an empty bed, a room rid of all your belongings. Why?" Grant asked

"Lets not go there now please, Grant that's just not something I want to go into right now" I whispered not really sure if he was able to hear but apparently so....

"For christ sake Emma I have the right to no I was your fiancé for crying out loud!" he roared "how would you feel if you went to bed happy with your fiancé in your arms and the following morning you wake up to an empty bed and their engagement ring belonging on your bed side table. Please Emma, you owe me this much. Just give me some sense of closure. That's all I'm asking" he said while running his hands through his hair.

"Grant I can't tell you, atleast not now anyway"

Thank god that at that moment Ariel came running towards us.

"Mommy cansh wesh gesh icesh cweam pweeze?"Ariel asked

"Sure honey lets go" I said reaching for her small, smooth hands.

"Mishter Gwant do you wansh icesh cweam tew" Ariel asked turning to Grant.

"Honey I dont think mr. Grant wants any ice cre-" I was saying to my daughter wen I was interrupted by none other than Grant

"Of course I want ice cream honey" he answered Ariel's question which resulted in my adorable daughter jumping about.

And that's how Grant and I are walking alongside each other and Ariel situated on Grants shoulders, as we journey to the ice cream truck.
