RAMIRO"You said his name was Spencer?" I asked, eyeing the door he had just closed.
"Why?" she asked, giving me a look that said she absolutely knew why.
I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with myself. Walking after the man who had wrapped his arms around Nova to lift her off her feet and spin her around was one of the many things I had in mind. Am I fucking insane?
I lifted my hand, holding her underneath her ear and I felt her hands on my chest.
She made it hard for me—hard to think—hard to be rational. I downplayed a lot of things in my life, but hoping that I was the only one who Nova was seeing was not one of them.
She didn't know how I felt.
It was probably way too soon.
She'd run if I told her that the very thought of anyone else touching her had me way too trigger happy. I almost scoffed. It was just a hug. No, it was his body pressed against hers and the shocked look on her face that clearly said it was the last thing she was expecting. Or wanted.
What are we doing?
"Amor," I murmured, staring at her pretty face. "I'm not going to do anything."
It wasn't a lie.
Encouraging Paul to pay her was already treading into dangerous waters. Imagine if I had to find Spencer and teach him to keep his hands to himself by ripping it off his arms.
It would chase her away. Right?
I licked my lips, stopping myself from kissing her. She was painfully beautiful. A walking novelty. Nova had me in the palm of her hand the second we left that casino, and she was entirely too unaware of it.
"Hermosa," I whispered, scowling down at her when I pulled her closer.
I needed her.
She stopped, staring down at the floor and when her eyes met mine again, I wasn't expecting the mischievous smirk on her lips.
It shouldn't have pissed me off the way it did. Smiling? I should have fucked it off her face right then.
I narrowed my eyes at her, wondering about the things running through her head.
Nova sighed, cocking her head to the side. "I thought you said you don't get jealous, Miro."
Miro. I want to offer her the world when she calls me that.
"I do," I forced out, grasping onto her hand when she tried to walk. "And you know I do."
I touched her face softly, enjoying the sight beneath my hand. I didn't want to stop touching her. I stroked her dark hair away from her face, desperate for a better view.
I couldn't stop thinking about her even while I was with her.
Her eyes stared back, all fiery and laced with defiance. Any other day and I'd have fallen on my knees at the look. I was too caught up on hoping that she wasn't about to do what I thought she was.
She pulled back from me, turning away. "And you know you have no reason to."
And she did.
"Nova," I said, my voice low as I caught her hand once again. "No reason to? Please explain what you mean by that."
I know what she means. I wanted to hear her say it. I wanted her to say that she wasn't mine. Or that I wasn't hers. I had no reason to be jealous. I had no reason to feel as I were the only one who could touch her, kiss her or spoil her with her favourite fucking things.
