"FOR THE LAST TIME LOCKWOOD. I DID NOT SLEEP WITH THE ENEMY!", Maeve shrieked as she opened their front door with such velocity that it slammed loudly into the wall.
"Fittes don't have to actually visit the libraries and churches. I do!", George shouted simultaneously over Maeve.
"Hey.", Lucy interrupted their feud, making herself announced to the group.
"How are you feeling babe?", Maeve threw her bag toward their small bench at the entry but instead hit Lockwood in the stomach, making him double over and groan in pain. Lucy would never come to find out if it was orchestrated or if he was just simply unlucky. But by the lack of remorse from the girl, she assumed it wasn't the latter.
"Normal. Thanks for letting me sleep in. How are you guys? I'm guessing you didn't find the wraith?"
"Oh, no, we did. But then we found thirteen others, didn't we, George? And then Kipps had to come, didn't he, Maeve?", Lockwood took his coat off and rapidly entered the living room that was situated right next to their front door on the right.
"How did you get out?"
"We were rescued.", George answered the girl.
"We were not 'rescued' ", the angry boy answered from the other room, as crashes were heard alongside his reply.
"Oh shit. Kipps' crew?"
More crashes and rattles were heard, but neither paid any heed to them as George went to answer Lucy's question: "They killed the wraiths and sealed the source. It was quite dazzling."
"They completely saved our asses.", Maeve added.
"Did they share the fee?", Lucy further inquired.
"No, finders keepers. But that's not what this is about.", George glanced at Lockwood who made himself visible once again, and who was huffing erratically by the doorframe— "He wouldn't even acknowledge. He's acting like Combe Carey Hall never happened."
"He must've signed the same NDA we did", Lucy stated matter-factly.
"Yes, but he could let us know that he knows. He lacks respect.", he entered the living room once again to hurl some more items into the wall.
Lucy glanced at George, who removed his glasses to softly rub his face. "That's not what this is about either.", and just on cue, Lockwood appeared again— "And then I find out one of my agents is in cahoots with the enemy."
"What—", Lucy started questioning but was quickly stopped by George, who softly shook his head.
"For the last time, Anthony Lockwood. I never slept with Quill Kipps!", Maeve raised her voice again.
