Waiting

Alison's POV

Tick Tock Tick Tock

I impatiently tapped my right leg on the floor, bitting my nails, my elbows on my thighs, my head resting on the palms of my hands.

"Alison, if you don't stop I will put you in a hospital bed." Hanna said frustrated.

I stopped all my movements and sat straight up on the chair, "I'm sorry..it's just that I'm super worried.." I said letting out a deep breath.

"Everything is going to be fine" Aria said rubbing my back.

"It's been 3 hours, why are they taking so long?" I said frustrated.

"I'm sure everything is fine, just don't worry too much Alison" Spencer said.

"You know what I'm getting something to eat, Alison is getting me nervous and I eat when I'm nervous." She said starting to get up.

"You eat no matter what emotion you're feeling, Han" Spencer said.

"That's not true!" Hanna said.

"You sure? Last week you got into an argument with your dad because he wouldn't give you college money, you got home and ate your anger and sadness away." Spencer said crossing her arms.

"Alright yes that's true! I'm still getting something to eat! You guys want anything?" Hanna said starting to walk to the vending machines.

"Water, please" I said.

Hanna went to the vending machines and got chips and beverages, she came walking back to her seat in waiting room.

She handed the girls and I waters, along with Pam and Wayne.

"Emily Fields?" A doctor said coming in with a hat and a mouth mask on his neck.

Pam, Wayne, the girls and I stood up and walked towards the doctor.

"How's Emily?" Pam asked.

"The surgery went perfectly fine, she's now in a room...family members first then friends." The doctor said.

I looked down at the floor and back up at the doctor.

I looked at Pam and Wayne, I gave them a light nod and they went to go see Emily.

20 minutes later...

"Alison, you can go see her now..you too girls." Wayne said.

"What room?" I asked.

"110...she's still a little drugged up, the nurse gave her a shot for the pain." Pam said giving me a smile.

The girls and I made our way to her room. I opened the door slightly, Emily turned her head, I stepped into the room first.

I stood beside her hospital bed, "Hey em" I said softly.

"Are you an angel?" She asked.

I let a chuckle, "No Em"

"Repunzel?" She asked confused.

"Nope"

"You're not my girlfriend are you? You're to pretty for me" she said.

I looked at the girls, shocked at what Em said, "No I'm not your girlfriend." I said laughing.

"Then who are you?" She asked frustrated.

"Alison, your best friend" I said holding her hand tight.

"Look! Do you see that?!" She said pointing to the door.

"What?" Hanna asked confused.

"It's a unicorn! It's so white!" She said in a little girl voice.

"Okay..Emily I think you should sleep" I said pulling up her blanket.

"Okayyy, goodnight Repunzel" she said shutting her eyes.

2 hours later...

"Ali, Alison" some one said as they shook me.

I opened my eyes and see Aria trying to wake me.

"Someone is awake" she said moving out of my way and I see Emily sitting up on her hospital bed, drinking water.

"Hey" I said softly walking up to her.

"Hey" she said giving me a smile.

"How are you?" I asked getting a chair and setting it beside her hospital bed.

"Pretty good, it doesn't hurt as much" she said laughing.

"That's great!" I said.

"Yeah, the doctor told Spencer that if I heal properly in about 2 weeks or so I'll be able to leave early!" She said in excitement.

"Wow, that's really great! That means you won't be gone for a month" I said holding her hand.

"I bet you will miss me the most"

"That is very true." I said laughing.

"Hey! I'll miss you way more than she will" Hanna said.

"Okay Han" I said in a sarcastic voice.

"Alright! Well I'm starving." Aria said.

"Me too, let's get McDonald's or something" Spencer said.

"You coming?" Spencer asked me.

"Uh no, I'll stay here with Emily. Bring me chicken nuggets" I said.

The girls headed out the door and shut it on their way out.

"I heard you were super nervous when I was in surgery." Emily said looking at me.

"Fucking Hanna" I said laughing.

"No it was actually Aria" she said laughing.

"Well yeah, I'm your best friend..isn't it my job to be worried sick?" I said.

"Yes, you know..thank you for everything, I couldn't ask for any one else to be the bestest friend ever" she said, she grabbed my hand and held it tight.

"So if I'm Repunzel, are you Pocahontas?" I said letting out a chuckle.

"Totally, Princess" she said laughing.

"Hey look do you see that?!" I said pointing towards the door.

Emily looked at the door confused and looked back at me.

"It's a unicorn! It's so white!" I said trying to mock her.

"Oh stop! That's so embarrassing!" She said face palming her face.

We sat in complete silence.

"Em?" I said, breaking the silence.

"Yeah?" She said looking at me.

"Promise me something" I said looking into her chocolate brown eyes.

"Anything" she said sitting up higher on her bed.

"Promise me, you won't change...not because of this. I still want you to be the same Emily, promise me that just because you have a penis in between your legs you'll be someone completely different. I want you to stay the same" I said.

"I promise, Alison." She said holding my hand a putting the other hand on top of my hand.
