The next morning, when you joined the team for breakfast, you guys realized that Hiruma was missing.
"Did he even come back last night?" Mamori asked.
Despite asking no one in particular, her and the rest of the team looked at you. You frowned.
"How am I supposed to know?!" you glared.
"W-Well," Monta smiled awkwardly. "Hiruma always brings you along for his schemes and..."
"You think I do this willingly?! I'm glad he's out being shady by himself! Gives me a break from seeing his ugly ass!" you folded your arms and huffed.
"He left this note!" Kurita rushed over with a piece of paper and began to read. "'Wait for me at the beach at 10, ya-ha. Hiruma.'"
You all checked the time.
"We should get there early if we take the bus." Mamori smiled.
"I'll jog there." you stood up and walked away.
"Jog?"
"Gotta workout everyday."
"Ah!" Sena's eyes widened, inspired. "I'll run there too-"
"What are you saying, Sena?" Mamori asked, concerned. "(Y/n) might be used to running, but you'll be exhausted in no time."
"Oh! Y-Yes, I suppose you're right!" he forced out a laugh.
"Still, (Y/n), will you be okay?" she looked at you.
"I have GPS on my phone." you waved without looking back. "Even if I get lost, Hiruma will find me no problem."
Although it took the team only a second to figure out that you were referring to Hiruma's scary bounty-hunter-like skillset, you were screaming internally.
'Why the fuck did I say it like that?!?!?!' you covered your face once you were in your room. 'I wanna die so baaaad!!! If he catches wind of this, I'm killing everyone on this fuckin' team and then myself!!!'
'Cherry.' you could hear his voice as you felt your face heat up.
"I HAVE to get the fuck outta here." you mumbled to yourself as you quickly changed into your workout outfit.
You were about halfway through the way to the beach when you took a small break. You were in some sort of western-style district. You walked into the nearest store – 'Cowboy shop' it was called – to buy yourself a bottle of water. You began drinking as soon as you gave the money.
"No way, look who's here."
You gasped, that voice! You turned around and saw Kid from the Wild Gunmen. He looked pleasantly surprised to see you. You on the other hand...
'I'm all sweaty and gross!!! I wanna die!'
"Kid?! The fuck are you doing here?!"
"I could ask you the same question. Coach wanted to make a stop." he pointed with his thumb.
You looked over to see the Gunmen's coach, looking around excitedly like a kid in a candy store.
"You're going to bootcamp too?!" you looked back at him.
"Too?" he raised an eyebrow. "So that's why you're here." he tilted his head. "I'm startin' to think this is fate."
"What?"
"Kid!" his coach exclaimed as he went up to him. "What're ya doing over here?!"
"Nothin', coach." he faced him. "Just catching up with a friend."
"Friend?" he looked at you. "Oh!" he pointed at you. "You're that girl from the Devil Bats!"
"Y-Yeah?" you frowned, confused that he recognized you.
"I saw you on tv during your match against the NASA Aliens! You are a funny girl!" he laughed. "The energy of youth!"
Your face turned bright red. Kid noticed and cleared his throat.
"Are you all by yourself?" he looked around. "Where's the rest of your team?"
"At the beach, that's where I'm going."
"Damn." he shook his head. "Your captain really left you to fend for yourself again?"
"Oh, nah, he doesn't know I'm going there by myself."
'Wait. Why am I defending him?!'
"But he is a jackass, it's true." you nodded.
"Well I can't have a lady walk all by herself in a foreign country." he adjusted his hat, smiling. "Hey coach, mind if I accompany her to the beach?"
"The beach?!" he beamed. "It'd be a nice detour, I love the beach!"
"No... I meant-"
"Let's go!" he dumped his groceries in Kid's arms. "I'll pay for these real quick."
Kid sighed as the coach left.
"...Want me to carry half?" you asked, extending your hands.
"Heh, you're sweet, but no thanks." he shook his head.
'SWEET?!?!?!' you blushed.
"Shut the fuck up!" you quickly covered your mouth.
He laughed
"Sorry." you looked down. "That came outta nowhere..."
"It's cool, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."
"No, I'm not-" you sighed, avoiding eye contact. "I just didn't expect it."
"Well then," he smiled. "I'll give you a heads up next time."
'What is happening???'
There was an energy to this conversation that was unknown to you and you didn't like it!
"Let's go, kids!" the coach rushed past you guys on the way to the exit.
You quickly followed behind.
