***Stefan's P.O.V.***
As I regain my consciousness I feel excruciating pain. My vision is blurry, I can make out that I am in a dimly lit room. I am chained to an iron chair and I am soaking in Vervain.
I blink my eyes a couple of time to clearly see the figure standing at a distance from me in the room.
"Mother?" I whisper.
"You are finally awake..." Lily says with a smile and moves towards me.
"What are you doing? Why have you captured me?" I ask in a barely audible breaking voice. Even uttering a few words feels exhausting.
"I am sorry to have ruined your reunion with your friend Stefan" she says in a crisp voice, "but your elder brother is upto something so we had to pick up a little leverage"
"Mother..." I manage to whisper only so much, all energy seems to have been drained out of me and the pain is searing.
"My sweet sweet boy, always so stubborn. You know contrary to your belief I do understand kinship, trust me on that" she replies in a voice sickeningly sweet, "and that is why I cannot take chances when your brother is plotting against my family!"
They are her family, and we, her children are nothing to her. I still remember the mother who loved me and Damon with all her heart, even the slightest cut or bruise on our skin used to pain her.
It is the same face but I do not see the love which seemed eternal in her eyes anymore.
Is it still deep down hidden inside her or has extinguished for good?
Giving up on her would mean giving up on the major part of the good memories of my human life.
I know I should, but can I let go? Maybe not yet...
I hear someone from her "family" call her and she leaves the room, closing the door shut.
These freaks have done something to me, I can't even keep my eyes open. Perhaps slipping into oblivion is a welcome respite for now.
