-- Luke's Pov--
I pulled Michael so he was standing right next to me. We were still holding hands. His step mom, Lillian, took a few steps closer to them so her back was facing the doorway. A man came in the doorway as she started yelling. I didn't know who he was but he made Michael smile.
"You two low life faggots," she said.
Michael smiled and looked at the man then looked down. I searched his face for answers. Who was this man? He was definitely older than 40, was that Michael's dad? It would make sense because he had the uniform.
"Go on," Michael said still smiling at the ground.
"You are a disgrace to your father, a disgrace to your last name, you're a disgrace to the world! Faggot's are not welcome. You and your boyfriend," when she said boyfriend he squeezed my hand making me blush, "are a disgrace to everything. Why would you choose to be gay? I hate you and if your father was here, he'd hate you too."
--Michael's pov--
I couldn't stop smiling. I mean, I felt happy to see him, but he doesn't know I'm gay and here he is, the first time I saw him and years, and I'm holding hands with a boy being called a faggot. I couldn't tell if he was mad or if he even understood.
"He doesn't know," I started, "He doesn't know anything about me. The last time I saw him, I was 15. Things have changed. Maybe he'll actually love me.. like mom did."
I looked down waiting for my father to say something but he never did.
"Your mom knew nothing," Lillian said, "She was probably a faggot as well."
I looked up at her and over at my father but he wasn't there anymore. Tears collected in my eyes.
"I am a disgrace," I said shaking my hand away from Luke's and sat down. I hugged my knees to my chest and just waited for more insults.
"My dad hates me now," I said looking at the ground as tears rolled down my face.
"He isn't mad," Luke said kneeling next to me, "He smiled and walked away. He didn't laugh or anything. It was a genuine smile."
"What the fuck are you guys even talking about?" she asked.
I didn't bother to look up. A part of me was happy at the words Luke had said but another part doubted everything.
"Michael," I heard a deep voice say, "You're not a disgrace. I still love you no matter what."
I looked up and saw pure terror on Lillian's face. Then I looked over to my father was walked pass her without looking at her.
"Stand up boys," he said.
Luke and I stood up looking around his face.
"Your eye," I said with tears still streaming down my face.
His eye had five fresh scars from his eyebrow down to his chin.
"I'm fine Mikey," he said smiling and turning towards Luke, "Who is this?"
"This is Luke," I said taking his hand and I looked at him, "I felt like I've known him for years but it's only been one day."
-- Luke's pov--
Woah, it's only been a day.
"We got a letter that said we both need cyber school," Michael said still holding my hand.
"Yeah, I heard you punched someone," He said smiling at Michael.
"He was calling Luke names," he said smiling at me, "I had to do something."
"Is Luke your," his dad said probably trying not to be mean.
"Luke is Luke," he said squeezing my hand, "We are us."
I looked into his eyes and my heart wasn't able to contain my happiness. My smile grew so much bigger and there were tears forming in my eyes. I was so happy.
"I see," he said opening his arms gesturing for us to hug him.
We all hugged and then I opened my eyes and still saw Lillian in shock. When we stopped hugging his father turned around so he was facing Lillian. Michael took my hand and led us out of the room and into the living room.
"It's only been a day," he said looking deep into my eyes.
"It feels like we knew each other for years," I said looking at his eyes.
He released out hands and hugged me, "Thank you for everything Luke."
"I didn't do anything," I said hugging him back.
"It probably doesn't seem that way, but to me, you did everything," he said resting his head on my shoulder.
I love him so much.
"Mikey?" I teased when we released the hug.
He smiled and took my hands again, "Lukey?"
"Only my mom calls me that," I said looking at our hands, "so,um-" I stopped my thought because I didn't know where I was going with it. I did but I didn't want to say it.
"So, what?" He said looking around my face.
"What are we, Michael?" I asked. I want to be soul mates. I want to be boyfriends. I just want him in my life but not as a friend.
"Is there somewhere private we can talk?" he asked. They yells of Lillian and his father were growing.
"We can go to my room," I said taking his hand swinging it around. He laughed and it gave me butterflies.
I love him.
We walked over to my house and we saw my mom cooking.
"Hungry?" She asked.
"Are you hungry?" I asked him.
"Depends, are you hungry?" he asked with the cutest smile.
"We are hungry," I said squeezing his hand.
"Get plates!" she smiled as she set everything on the table.
