The next morning arrived, bright and full of anticipation. It was the engagement day-Taehyung's engagement day. Standing before the grand mirror in his room, he adjusted the collar of his sleek black suit, scrutinizing his reflection with narrowed eyes.
Beside him, his younger sister, Eunchae, stood with her arms crossed, tapping her foot impatiently. "Oppa, can I go now? I need to get ready too!" she huffed, glaring at him.
Taehyung barely spared her a glance, still fussing over his outfit. "Why are you in such a rush? It's my engagement, not yours," he said, flipping between two different ties, comparing them against his suit.
Eunchae scoffed. "Excuse me?! I haven't even taken a bath yet! You've been hogging the mirror for the past half hour!"
Taehyung sighed dramatically, ignoring her frustration as he picked up another blazer from the rack. "Come on, tell me-this one? Or this one? Or should I just go with the one I'm already wearing?" he asked, holding up the suits one by one.
Eunchae smirked, arms still crossed as she eyed him with amusement. "Wow. The serious psychiatrist, the 'cool' Dr. Kim, turning into a shiny, lovesick baby. Awww, oppa, I think Jungkook has gotten the best of you, huh?"
Taehyung paused mid-motion, rolling his eyes as he placed the extra blazers aside. "Tch, that brat is throwing off his personality onto me. I swear I wasn't like this before!" he muttered, running a hand through his styled hair in exasperation.
Eunchae burst into laughter. "Oh, no, you definitely weren't. You were all 'calm and composed, Dr. Kim,' and now look at you, standing here, debating over which shade of black to wear for your fiancé."
Taehyung groaned, looking back at his reflection. "Damn it, he's infecting me."
Eunchae patted his shoulder. "It's called love, oppa. Get used to it."
Taehyung scoffed but couldn't fight the small smile that tugged at his lips. Love, huh? If this was love, he supposed he didn't mind being 'infected' after all.
Taehyung let out a deep sigh, rubbing his temple as he turned back to the mirror. "Alright, now tell me-which one should I wear?" he asked, his voice laced with a mix of frustration and mild desperation.
Eunchae, now thoroughly exasperated, dramatically exhaled. "The black one? No, wait-hmm... how about this golden one?" She tapped her chin in thought before perking up. "Jungkook is wearing red, so it'll match really well!"
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, holding up the golden suit jacket against his frame. "Really? You think it'll be fine?" He turned slightly, examining himself in the mirror.
Eunchae nodded eagerly, waving a dismissive hand. "Yes, yes! Trust me! You're already handsome-it doesn't even matter what you wear at this point!" she said, stepping back toward the door. "Now, please, let me go get ready too!"
Before Taehyung could open his mouth to protest or ask another question, Eunchae bolted out of the room like a whirlwind, leaving only a faint giggle trailing behind her.
The door clicked shut, and Taehyung stood there, holding the golden blazer, staring blankly at the space where his sister had just been. He exhaled sharply, then turned his glare toward the empty corners of his room, as if directing his irritation at the very walls.
It took him a moment to realize what he was doing-standing there, scowling at nothing like a lovesick fool. His eyes widened slightly in horror.
"What the hell am I doing?" he muttered to himself before groaning and running a hand down his face.
Then, as if on cue, Jungkook's mischievous face flashed in his mind-the brat's cheeky grin, the dramatic whines, the way he somehow always got his way without even trying.
