Mates

After I get over the shock that I have a mate, we spend the rest of the day talking and gossiping.
"So I heard that there are two new schools on either side of us." Says Bethany. "One is for Vampires. It's called The Vampirical Academy. The other one is for werewolves. It's called Wolfsbane Academy." I groaned. Mosquitoes and Mutts. Just what we needed. I start feeling restless.
"I'm gonna go practice. I need to stretch." I stand up and grab my coat. I sling it on over my A&M shirt.
I run downstairs and go out to the courtyard. I stand in the middle and feel my friends beside me.
"Trick number 29?" I ask.
"Ooh. That's my favorite." Talyn squeals.
They form a square around me and Sarah throws out her hand. Earth chunks about a foot in diameter circle me in a spiral going up. I step lightly on one and start going up. When I reach the top a swirl of water from Aaliyah grabs me and lifts me up. It throws me in the air and the air supports me. I column of fire swirls around me. The air blows my hair back and I feel like A goddess.
I start to float down and I hear a few hisses.
"Mosquitoes." I growl. I hit the ground and glare at them.
There were three boys and two girls. The first boy, who was obviously the leader, stepped forward. He had black hair and blue eyes. He was taller than me.
"We are here to scout out hunting grounds."
"Hunting grounds? I don't think so." I got into my fighting stance and they growled.
"Calm down. We're just hungry and elementals are easy to take down." Said one of the girls. She had waist long red hair.
"How about you see just how easy we are to take down." I challenged. The girl hissed and lunged at me. I sidestepped and she flew into Bethany. Bethany growled and started attacking her. The other vampires attacked us, and just my luck, I got the leader. he lunged at me and I jumped up, using the air as a boost. I stood hovering above him, and he jumped at me. I easily dodged and shot a ball of fire at him. He moved and I missed. I groaned and he stood, laughing at me.
I growled and a ball of earth surrounded him. I could feel him trying to break out, but I was to strong. I checked to see how my friends were doing and the rest of the vampires were sufficiently contained. I quickly gathered the air around them and threw them towards their school.
I dusted my hands off and we went to the other side of the school. When we got there I heard growling.
"Why can't we just have a peaceful day?" I asked in exasperation. When I got there there were two werewolves.
One of them had golden fur and blue grey eyes. When I looked into his eyes my powers flew out of my hands uncontrollably and onto him. They hit him right were I guess his heart was, and he seemed to absorb them. When that happened he looked at me and growled. He ran back into the woods.
"Darby, what just happened?" Aaliyah asked worriedly.
"I-I don't know." I replied. The other werewolf growled at me. It was a girl and her fur was muddy brown with chocolate brown eyes.
She was about to pounce on me when a boy came out of the forest.
"Hayley, stop." He said. She turned and whimpered.
I looked at the boy. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
He looked at me and whispered. "Mate." I looked at him confused and the other werewolf growled at me. She pounced but before I could stop her, a blast of fire hit her in the side. I looked in shock at the boy.
"No way." I said. "A-a mutt? Just my luck."
"Mine." He growled. I backed up and his eyes softened.
"Sorry. I haven't introduced myself. I'm Austin." He said. I hesitated for a few seconds.
"My name is Darby." I said timidly.
Four more wolves came out of the forest. They stood next to Austin.
"This is Lance, my beta." He said. Lance had brown hair and green eyes.
"This is Jacob, my third in command." Jacob had brown hair and brown eyes.
"This is Marcus, fourth in command." Marcus had black hair and grey eyes.
"And this is Alex, fifth in command." Alex had red hair and Hazel eyes.
The four wolves stared at my friends for a few seconds and I groaned. Lucky them. We all get mutts.
The wolves ran back into the forest and came back out a few minutes later, dressed like Austin.
"And this man right here," Lance said. "Is my best friend and our Alpha."
"And you lucky ladies, are our mates." Interjected Marcus.
Sarah groaned. Jacob went over to her and hugged her. She stiffened but soon relaxed into the hug. The other boys went to hug my friends, who had similar reactions.
I was so busy watching them, I didn't notice someone had snuck up behind me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I stiffened. He laughed in my ear and I relaxed slightly.
"So you go to Harmony Academy." Austin whispered.
I turned around to face him. "Yep. And you go to Wolfsbane?"
He tapped his nose. "On the nose."
I untangled from his arms and walked four steps toward our school before I was tackled by Hayley.
Austin growled and it took all four of his friends to hold him back.
"Don't do it dude." Alex murmured.
"Yeah dude. This is a girl fight. You don't want to get into this." Marcus whispered excitedly.
I pushed her back and jumped up. I floated backwards about fifteen feet before landing softly. Hayley growled at me and pounced, but vines were holding down her legs.
She struggled so I clenched my fist, making them tighter. She whimpered and lowered her head in submission. I untangled the vines and she ran into the forest.
"Why does she hate me?" I asked.
"She may have been my girlfriend up until about ten minutes ago." Austin admitted.
"Great." I groaned. "A crazy werewolf ex-girlfriend. Fun."
I heard a loud howl.
"That's our cue." Austin said.
"Well, bye." I said.
"Bye." He returned. Then they turned and ran into the forest. A few seconds later, we could hear their howls of joy.
I grinned and turned towards the school. I had found my mate.
