Vani had spent years working toward this.

Sleepless nights, coffee-fueled breakdowns, and endless hours spent perfecting her designs.

And now?

Here she was, standing in the grand lobby of Singhania Industries, ready to start her dream internship in architecture.

Or so she thought.

Because fate?

Fate was a certified b*tch.

.
.

Vani was late.

Her phone screen flashed 8:42 AM, and her auto driver was still stuck behind a truck carrying approximately one million bricks, moving at the speed of a dead snail.

"Bhaiya, thoda tez chalao na!" she groaned, peeking at the never-ending traffic ahead.

The driver, unfazed, took a sip from his chai. "Madam, yeh Mumbai hai. Traffic bhi soch samajh ke chalti hai."

Vani gritted her teeth. Great. First day of her internship at Singhania Industries, and she was about to make a stellar first impression by walking in late like an idiot.

With a frustrated sigh, she tapped her phone screen again. Maybe if she ran the last kilometer—

Her thoughts were violently interrupted when a black Range Rover zoomed past the auto, splashing a glorious wave of muddy rainwater all over her.

The auto driver gasped.

She sat frozen, her new washed clothes now looking like a DIY art project.

The car skidded to a smooth stop at the signal ahead, its tinted windows gleaming like it belonged to some underground mafia lord.

Vani took a deep breath.

Calm. Stay calm.

Then she looked at her clothes again.

Forget calm. MURDER.

Without thinking, she jumped out of the auto and marched straight to the driver's side, knocking on the window aggressively.

Her patience snapped.

"OYE! WINDOW KHOL!"

The glass rolled down smoothly, revealing a man in a black shirt, sleeves casually rolled up, fingers drumming against the steering wheel. His sharp jawline, dark eyes, and expensive watch screamed money and power—the kind of guy who probably paid people to breathe near him.

He turned his head slightly, glancing at her like she was something amusing. "Yes?"

Vani's blood pressure skyrocketed.

"YES?!" she repeated, voice dripping with outrage. "You just splashed an entire flood onto me, and all you have to say is YES?"

His gaze lazily trailed over her ruined clothes. "Hmm."

"HMM?!"

"The water does add... character," he mused, his lip twitching in amusement.

Vani's soul left her body.

"Character?! YOU RICH, USELESS, IDIOTIC—"

The light turned green.

The man barely spared her another glance.

"Tough luck," he said.

And then?

HE DROVE OFF.

JUST.
