         At lunch I'm hanging out with Grayson and a couple of our other friends at our lunch table when I notice a girl sneak outside by herself. Curiosity gets the best of me. "Hey guys, I just realized that I forgot to do my English homework that's due next period." I get up from the table and grab my stuff. "I'm gonna head to my locker to get my English stuff then I'll probably go to the library after that."
"Okay bro. Have fun." Grayson laughs.
I leave the table and sneak out the cafeteria doors and towards the ones that lead outside. When I get out there, I try to locate that girl. I scan the backyard of the school building and finally find her sitting all alone in the middle of the soccer field. I walk towards her, curious as to who she is and why she is all alone.
I get out to her and realize it's the girl from first period. I begin talking to her but she refuses to talk back to me. She just sits there and shakes her head or shrugs her shoulders or completely ignores the questions I ask her. Finally after a couple of minutes, she tells me her name is Raina. Then I tell her my name and smile at her and she just sits there, spacing off.
"Raina, are you okay?" I ask her concerned.
"Yeah." She squeaks out.
"Are you sure? You keep spacing off."
"I know..... But I swear I'm okay." She says quietly.
"Okay."
We sit there in silence for a few and then the bell rings. I get up off the ground and then I offer her my hand to help her up as well. She accepts my hand and I pull her up off the ground. Then we head back towards the building and sneak back in, going our separate ways.

After school, I see Raina in the hallways, walking really fast with her head down low heading towards the front doors. I would stop her but she seems like she's on a mission. Oh well, there's always first block tomorrow morning.
I head to the parking lot behind the gymnasium to wait for Cameron to get done, since Grayson has to stay after school for detention for being late to one of his classes and I sure as hell don't wanna stay with him.
When she gets out to her car, she unlocks it and I climb in and hook my seatbelt. "So how was school today?" She asks.
"Pretty good. I met this one really quiet girl. She didn't really wanna talk to me but I finally got her to talk. How was it for you?" I respond.
"Ooh Ethan's got a crush!"
"No, I just.... This girl intrigues me. She's so different. She seems so fragile and depressed, like the next sad thing she hears or encounters will break her. It's sad and I just wanna know what's wrong with her."
"So you feel sorry for her?"
"Yeah. I want her to talk to me so I can see if there's anything I can do to help her. Ya know?"
"Yeah I do. Good luck Eth."
"Thanks." I smile and stare out the window into space for the remainder of the car ride home.
