The angel's words hung in the air like a bomb. Ellie's expression twisted into a mix of anguish and confusion.

"What are you saying...? She can't be-"

"It was the boy with the blasters," the angel interrupted smoothly. "He shot the girl in the head and took her body with him."

The Corrupter smiled beneath their mask, exchanging a quick glance with Kaleb. They both nodded.

Ellie's breathing grew louder, faster. His heartbeat pounded in his ears as realization set in.

"And they didn't stop there," the angel continued, his voice dripping with malice. "The flying one tore a hole straight through the blonde boy's chest."

Ellie's body tensed. "Luke...?"

His hands trembled. His entire body felt like it was being pierced from all sides. His knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the ground.

"This can't be happening... no... no..." His voice cracked, his mind racing with images of his friends—memories of laughter, of late-night talks, of promises made.

Those memories were soon overwritten by the faces of Xavier and Malek. Ellie's eyes filled with tears. His face contorted with rage.

The angel reached into his long sleeves, pulling out the same flute he had used the night before. His golden eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

"That's it... give in to your weakness. Feel it. The sadness, the helplessness. Let it consume you."

He brought the flute to his lips and began playing his thoughts into it

"I..." His voice barely escaped his lips.

He slammed his forehead into the ground, the impact echoing through the forest.

"I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL THEM!"

He hit his head again. And again. Even as blood started to seep onto the floor.

"THEY'RE GOING TO PAY. I'LL MAKE THEM PAY IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO!"

The angel played on, weaving his melody into Ellie's shattered mind, embedding commands into the boy's subconscious.

"Let me take control. Be my puppet, and you will have your revenge."

Ellie suddenly stopped. His movements stilled.

Slowly, he stood up

His eyes, once filled with rage, now looked hollow, locked onto the angel's. His pupils began to spiral.

The angel turned to The Corrupter and Kaleb with a smug grin. "And that's how it's done."

"Good," The Corrupter said. "We have a new asset on our side." Their expression quickly soured. "Now PLEASE turn back into your normal form. This look is creeping me out."

The angel smirked. "Your wish is my command my love."

In a flash, his entire appearance shifted. His long, golden hair shortened, streaked with black. His eyes turned a sharp, bright green. He even seemed younger, no older than 26

Kaleb shuddered. "Every time you do that, I get chills."

"Sounds like jealousy to me," the man shrugged.

"Even your title is creepy. Seriously, 'The Deceiver'? How am I supposed to trust you as a teammate?"

The Deceiver chuckled. "You don't."

Kaleb scoffed. "Whatever. Why is this kid so important anyway?"

The angel grinned. "Last night, I saw him take out six Lurkers barely five minutes after getting his powers."
