Red blood stained what could have been
Those wretched things, that hum
Of old songs against the dying breaths
That pained laugh that watched it all
Burn and break till never end
That boy saw all he ever did
Lost, scared for he never bid
Farewell to those gone by
By his twisted heart
That yearned for what it could never have
And that boy saw a daffodil
Lone under dark hues
Waiting to see the world and all it was
With a pained smile
That yearned for what it could never have
And yet the boy
Could never end it all
And the daffodil to not wither away
Rot away till last breath
Saw the twinkling stars
That lit the night
Till the very end.
