Chapter Four : Coma

Hayden POV

Oh, my god I'm so stupid! I let her shield me and now shes in the fucking hospital. I didn't actually think that her brother would hurt her! I mean they're family, I just didn't see it coming.

I barely even know her and all ready I've put her in so much danger! She's in the hospital because of me. It's all my fault that she's in a coma. Actually scratch that, its all her brothers fault, Axel's. Ugh!! Why did he have to get between us! Why did he have to hate me? I mean what did I ever do to him.

"Everything will be okay son." My dad says, patting me on the back.

"But what it she's not? I can't loose my mate dad." I tell him.

"You won't loose your mate. I promise." He say but I know that he has no power over any of this.

'I need mate' My wolf, Max, whimpers.

'I need her too but there's nothing we can do for her right now' I say sadly.

"I'm going for a run." I mumble as I walk out of the hospital.

I shift into my black wolf and start to run through the forest. Not knowing where it go or what to do I let out a howl of pain and regret. I should be the one in the hospital not Carter. She's never going to want me as a mate now.

'Yo! Hayden, I need some back up." My soon-to be-Beta, Seth, says through mind-link.

'What for?' I ask.

'That Ashton dude is at my neck again about me being Dylan's mate.' He tells me.

'I'll be there as soon as I can.' I say, cut off mind link and run back the way I came from.

I see Seth and Ashton arguing while Dylan is trying to pull her brother away. Before I can get over to them Dylan punches Ashton in the nose and he starts to growl at her.

Seth takes a protective stand in front of Dylan and I run over and do the same. No one will hurt my best friends mate.

"Dylan mind-link your other brother and tell him to come calm Ashton down." Seth tells her and she nods.

Within second Dylan's other brother, Spencer is in front of Ashton talking to him.

"You can't control this." He shouts at Ashton.

"I can if he's dead!" Ashton shouts causing all of us to stiffen.

"Shit bro. You need to calm down." Dylan's twin sister says coming into the mix.

I watch as they fight with each other while Dylan and Seth are holding hands but very stiff behind me.

"Alpha Hayden!" I head through mind-link. I know right away that it's my third in command.

"What is it?" I questions trying to focus.

"Carter's waking up." He tells me.

"I'll be right there." I say as I look back to Chase and Dylan.

"Shut the fuck up and stop your arguing!" I scream at everyone in my Alpha voice. "Carter is waking up an-" Before I can finish, both Dylan and her sister say "Carter!" And run off towards the hospital.

We all run after them and back to the hospital where I see Carter sitting up in the bed. She smiles at me and I smile back. I look over at Axel to see regret and happiness in his eyes. Two very conflicting emotions.

"Carter, I'm so sorry that I hurt you. I didn't mean to, my wolf took over for a split second and before I could even stop him you were hurt. Carter I'm so so sorry, please forgive me." Axel begs.

"Axel, what I said was wrong, you're gunna find the best mate someday. I'm sorry for what I said it's just I couldn't handle that fact that you told me I couldn't be with my mate. I know I was hurt but I'm not anymore, I'm perfectly fine." She says moving her arms up and down causing everyone in the room to laugh.

"I know what I said was wrong, Please don't be mad, you just have to understand that I don't think Hayden is the best person for you." He says earning a growl from Carter and myself.

This is going to be one long day...
