"On The Run" by Beyoncé & JAY-Z played low through the speakers, the beat echoing softly off the walls of the tidy living room. The scent of fresh laundry and lemon-scented cleaner hung in the air as Draco moved in quiet rhythm, folding a blanket and straightening up the coffee table.

On the couch, Ulani was tucked into the corner, legs crossed and eyes glued to her iPad, giggling at Ms. Rachel. Her favorite show, right next to Bluey. She barely noticed Draco moving around her—something he was used to by now.

Draco glanced over at her, a soft smile creeping onto his face. She reminded him so much of his brother—same curious eyes, same little dimple when she smiled. The thought lingered heavy in his chest for a moment before he shook it off.

A brother who was very much alive. And it still angered him that he wasn't aware until now.

"Lani, baby," he said gently, breaking her focus. "You wanna go see Nana today?" His voice was calm, almost hopeful.

Ulani looked up, her face lighting up instantly. "Yes please!"

"Aight then," Draco chuckled, nodding toward the stairs. "Go on upstairs and grab your bag."

Without hesitation, she bounced off the couch and took off, her socked feet thudding lightly against the stairs. "Okay!" she called behind her.

Draco sighed and rubbed the back of his neck as he grabbed a few of her toys off the floor, tossing them into a nearby basket. Ulani might've had the whole toy store at his house , but he had nobody but to blame but himself because he was the one who spoiled her.

"I'm not buying nan more bluey toy she got the whole fuckin' cast in her toy box"

He pulled out his phone and texted her mom to let her know that he was going over to his mom crib , he made sure to keep her updated every time he kept Lani.

A few minutes later, Ulani came barreling back down the stairs, her glittery Paw Patrol bookbag bouncing against her back. She had slipped on her Lobster Dunks—on the wrong feet—and wore her sparkly unicorn hoodie with the ears sticking up. Her tiny face peeked out from beneath the oversized hood.

"You packed yo' iPad munch?" he asked, crouching down to fix her shoes.

"Yup! And my crayons," she said proudly, adjusting her backpack straps.

Draco nodded, fixing her shoes and being sure to double knot the laces . "Look at you munch, being a big girl. Nana's gonna love that hoodie."

"She said it's her favorite," Ulani grinned.

He stood, grabbing his keys from the hook by the door and his wallet from the counter. "Aight , let's slide twin . You be good, you hea' me?"

"I always good," she said matter-of-factly, reaching up for his hand.
