It was Friday. The last day before school dismissed for Christmas break.

My English class was having the gift exchange today, and I was so excited.

I walked in, looking around for the boy.

He wasn't here.

I was brokenhearted. He wasn't here...

This was the first day he missed out of the entire semester.

I was wondering where he was, and if he was still at home, sleeping in his bed.

Ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and I seen his hair.

I sat up as quickly as I could.

Ms. Smith walked to the door and opened it.

"Alex! You finally decided to join us!"

Alex.

His name was Alex.

It was perfect. I loved it.

I watched him as he walked to his seat, and he glanced at me.

We locked eyes for a brief second, and I felt myself blush.

He gave me that crooked smirk.

I smiled, a wide, geeky smile and I seen him shake his head and his smile got wider.

I felt so happy.

I wondered the entire class period if what he got me was actually socks.

Then, it came time.

"Okay, class. It's time for the gift exchange!"

Everyone shifted in their seats, ready to find out what their gift was and who picked their name out of the bowl the previous Monday morning.

I already knew I had Payton's, and Payton knew I had her name too, even though the instructions of this gift exchange was to keep the names a secret.

Obviously, nobody listened to that rule because we were all too excited.

Ms. Smith basically let us go at it, she told us we can start the gift exchange.

Payton walked over to the person she got, I walked to Payton, and Alex...

Alex walked to me.

I tried to ignore the fact he walked to me, but I almost couldn't.

He tapped my shoulder and kind of grabbed it and turned me around, smoothly.

When my body was facing his, I felt him breathing on me, because we were basically almost that close. It felt kind of nice, but I was worried he was uncomfortable, so I stepped back a couple steps and stared into his eyes and smiled.

He gave me another one of his cute crooked smiles.

I blushed and his smile got a little wider.

I felt my stomach fill up with butterflies, and I felt my heart just beat harder and harder with joy and happiness, and then I got too happy and my heart started skipping beats.

"This is the last day I'll see you, except Monday, for our English exam," he started.

"Yeah, I'm kind of really bummed about it," I said.

"Yeah, me too, but we have a new semester coming up, maybe you're in one of my classes."

"Maybe," I started, "I hope so, but I don't really know you that much."

"Well, here's your gift, maybe I'll see you next semester, I hope you like it," he said.

"Thanks," I smiled.
