The school year ended, as it did every June, finally.
But, the second semester went by the quickest, I think.
I didn't see Alex not once during the second semester, which absolutely sucked, but I pretended I didn't care.
But, in all reality, I did care. I think I cared a little too much.
I missed him, but eventually, he fled my mind.
It was like I never knew him, like I never even met him, or knew he even existed for that matter.
Well, June passed and July came.
It was the month of America's Independence.
Red, white, and blue. The three famous colors of the United States of America.
Yay!
I was actually so excited for the Fourth of July because I love watching the fireworks and everyone celebrating our Independence.
I had the perfect outfit picked out too; white shorts, flip-flops with silver sparkled straps, and a USA tank top with white and red stars circling around "USA". I was so excited because the tank top was super cute.
That night couldn't have came any faster! It felt like it took centuries for it to become dark enough to shoot fireworks!
My family and I went to the spot we always went to, some place near a farmer's market. But, it always had the best view of the fireworks, we always parked so close to where they shot them off.
Unfortunately, the fireworks show usually only lasts around twenty to thirty minutes, and that was really the only bad part about it, I think.
Anyway, the night ended fairly quickly, like always.
We waited for traffic to die down, then we went home.
When we got home, we could still hear all the fireworks throughout the city going off, and I watched out the window, wondering who were letting the fireworks off and where.
Suddenly, it came to my mind if Alex was doing anything.
I wished I would have a way to talk to him, it totally bummed me out that I didn't have a way to get a hold of him, but I guess I just had to live with it.
So, I did.
I missed him though, I honestly did.
But, I really didn't want to not have a way to talk to him, so I asked my mom if we had a phone book or something, she said that my grandparents have one and asked why, I just said that I wanted to find someone and get to know them.
She asked if it was a boy, I nodded.
She smiled and asked if I'd like for her to run me to the store to buy a phone book and I replied with, "Sure."
She grabbed her keys, and I ran outside to the car, hopped in and as soon as we got to the store I jumped out of the car and jetted into the store and asked the clerk where the phone books were located. She kindly explained to me where they were and I found them and sent back up to the register to check out.
I got back into the car and started searching in the phone book for all Alex's listed.
But, then I realized I didn't even know his last name, I just knew the first letter of his last name.
So, I looked for "Alex C," because it's all the information I knew about him.
I also looked for the location; G-Town, SC.
I flipped through the pages impatiently and found nothing, so I gave up and went to bed early that night. Well... not really early, because it was 1:27 in the morning, but still, it was fairly early for a summer night.
I fell asleep fast that night, but woke up to a long buzz from my iPhone resting under my pillow.
I jumped at the buzzing feeling and grabbed my iPhone from under my pillow.
It was Twitter notifying me that I have a message from someone.
I clicked on it and it was shocking to me to see who had messaged me at 4:39 in the freaking morning, but, I didn't mind because once I figured out who it was, I was pretty happy that he found me on social media, but kind of scared because I had stuff about him on my account that he still doesn't know about to this day.
Things like pictures of lists of things I've always wanted to do and to be with him, stuff like that. He still doesn't know about it. *wink, wink*
The message read:
"Hi."
I replied:
"Hey. :)"
I waited, but, eventually my eyes started to get too heavy, so I locked my phone and fell back asleep.
My phone buzzed again.
I grabbed it and read the message:
"Wryd?"
"Sleeping, you?(:" I said to him.
I waited for what seemed like forever, but was really only three minutes.
*Bzzzz*
"Nothing, just sitting here.. I was wanting to talk to you about something though.."
I replied, "What?"
"Nvm, sorry."
"No, tell me, I want to know now.."
I didn't get a reply that night.
I was pretty bummed because what conversation I did have with him, wasn't one that I wanted, nothing was said that I wanted to be said, and it just sucked overall.
I went back to sleep, in a mood I shouldn't have went to sleep in.
When I woke up the next day around two pm, I checked my phone and had nothing waiting on me from any social media app, but I was mostly concerned for Twitter.
I opened my Twitter app and checked my DM's. There wasn't anything awaiting me, so I went to his profile page and checked what time his most recent tweet was posted.
His most recent tweet read:
":/"
The time read 5:24 am, that was way after I sent my message, almost one hour afterward and he never replied to my message, and I'm more than sure he seen my message, but, it was fine, I guess.
I tweeted:
"Wow, so you can tweet but can't DM me back? O.K. LOL."
I got a reply in my DM's a few minutes later, maybe like ten minutes later, which was odd to me.
"I didn't get your message, I'm sorry, I hope you're not mad."
I replied, almost immediately, "Oh."
He replied with a simple,":("
I didn't reply, I just simply ignored him.
I don't know why I ignored him, because I wanted to talk to him more than I wanted to eat.
He was all that mattered to me right now.
He took over my life.
Nobody knew it, though. Only I knew, which kind of sucked because I wanted him to know that I really wanted to talk to him. It just, I don't really even know what feelings I had for Alex, all I knew was that I needed him. I needed to talk to him and be with him. I needed him to want me too, though.
But, I knew it wouldn't happen, so I gave up, and we didn't talk the rest of the summer.
I was really bummed the rest of the summer.
