Two months. Two whole months of doing nothing.

I've been discharged, appreciated, and utterly useless. The Chief Minister himself gave me some grand appreciation for my bravery. As if I care. The politics, the power plays, the praises, all things I had zero interest in.

Instead, I've been stuck at home, doing nothing but walking down the stairs, sitting in the damn garden, and glaring at everyone who dares to breathe too loudly in my presence.

Rithvik is handling my work. Priya has taken over the projects. Baba-sa, despite my protests, has started attending conferences; a man who should be enjoying his retired life is now playing business games at this age, just so my presence doesn't fade in the market. I know what he's doing, and while I appreciate it, I don't want him or anyone doing so much for me.

But Siya? Oh, my stubborn, reckless Siya.
Two months ago, I wasn't even allowed to accompany her to the viability scan. Doctor's orders, no unnecessary travel due to my operations. So, I was left behind, sulking like a fool, while my wife went with Rithvik and Ishita.

I had wanted to argue, to demand that someone take me along. But one sharp glare from her and a firm reminder from the doctor about my condition had me gritting my teeth and staying put.

Com'on it's her first ultrasound VIABILITY SCAN!!!

So, I did the next best thing, I waited like a madman. Every ticking second made me restless. What was taking so long? Was she okay? Was the baby okay? I was gripping my phone so tightly that my knuckles turned white. And then, finally, it rang.

I had warned Rithvik a hundred times, call me immediately if something happens.

And yet, my phone remained silent.

Until, finally, Siya's name flashed on my screen. I still remembered that I had picked up instantly.

"Siya?" My voice was demanding.

Silence.....

My grip on the phone tightened.

"Siya, speak."

And then, she giggled.

What the—?

Giggled?

Was she laughing?

When I was on the verge of losing my damn mind?

"Siya, don't!" I warned her.

"What happened?" She sucked in a deep breath, and then, in the softest, sweetest voice, she whispered, and giggled again.

"We are carrying twins," For a second, my brain refused to process her words.

Twins?

No. She must've meant...
