Four months. Four long months. And I swear, everything about me is expanding. My stomach, my cravings, my emotions... even Adhiraj's protectiveness.
Currently, I sat on the terrace with Maa-sa and Dadi-sa, carefully arranging pickles in the jars as the sun cast a golden glow over the palace. Maa-sa was telling me about the do's and don'ts after pregnancy while Dadi-sa, as usual, had other plans; teasing the life out of me.
"So, Bahu-sa," Dadi-sa began, giving me a mischievous look.
"What will you do if the babies inherit Adhiraj's traits? You'll never get a moment of peace!" My cheeks began to heat up. And my Adhiraj, lounging lazily on the couch nearby, immediately snapped his head toward us, eyes narrowing.
"Obviously, they'll have my traits," he scoffed.
"They are my children, after all."
"Then I pity bahu-sa already. Imagine two little Adhirajs running around, demanding things in the most commanding tone ever," Dadi-sa smirked.
"Or worse, a little Adhiraj who glares at people before even learning to walk," Maa-sa added. I laughed, already picturing two little miniatures of my husband, running around with the same brooding expressions and king-like attitude.
"At least they won't be as talkative as you all," Maa-sa, Dadi-sa and I gasp back to back.
"Are you saying we talk too much?!" Dadi-sa asked, and my Adhiraj, without missing a beat snapback.
"I was being polite. You all never stop talking," Maa-sa smacked his arm, while I just giggled, watching the scene unfold. Adhiraj can glare all he wants, but even the King has no power over Maa-sa and Dadi-sa's teasing.
They were on a roll.
Adhiraj, still lounging lazily, was now the center of all their jokes, much to his dismay. I sat beside them, trying to control my giggles as they continued their merciless teasing.
"Bahu-sa, mark my words, one of your twins will be exactly like Adhiraj; stern face, folded arms, and always glaring at everyone like they owe him something," Maa-sa nodded in agreement, chuckling.
"And the other will be like you Bahu-sa; sweet, cheerful, and always giggling. Poor Adhiraj, one will trouble him with their attitude, and the other will trouble him by ignoring all his rules."
"Why does it sound like both will trouble me?"
"Because they will, hukum-sa," I added giggling, watching his horrified expression.
"Kuku still doesn't know what's coming."
"He thinks handling business is hard. Just wait till he's running around at night with a crying baby in his arms while Siya sleeps peacefully," Maa-sa joined in, making me chuckle.
