Author's Pov
The truck crashed into Vidya's car with a deafening crunch. The car swung violently, its tires shrieking in protest. The sound of shattering glass filled the air, and the truck driver's head jolted forward, his hands instinctively grasping the wheel as the horn blared out a discordant note. Vidya's head snapped forward, banging against the steering wheel with a sickening thud.
Vidya's body slumped forward. The truck driver's face was ashen, his eyes wide with horror as he tried to process what just happened. The sound of groaning metal echoed through the air. The road was jammed. Some passer-byers reached Vidya after acknowledging the logo on the Car— Rathore.
"Ma'am! Ma'am! Are you fine?" One of them asked Vidya who was sitting inside almost lifeless. Another person checked her nerves and dialled the hospital's number. They called the ambulance from Chauhan's Hospital, the nearest to that area.
Most of the people were busy making videos and clicking photographs but few of them rescued her. Her face was smeared with blood, and her hair was matted with it. Despite her severe injuries, an elderly woman quickly came to her aid, using a dupatta to stem the bleeding from her head. Meanwhile, the truck driver remained at the scene, frozen in shock. However, he soon regained his composure and rushed to help Vidya.
The terrific news had reached Mrityunjay like a thunder shock.
He was struggling with the turmoil that had happened an hour ago. He was fighting the voices inside his head who were mocking him and labelling him as a 'Loser'. He took the glass of water and sipped some water to calm himself. But as Vidya's breaking voice rang inside his head, he grasped the glass tightly and it shattered in his hand. After realising, he took out the pieces from his hand but his numbness gulped the pain.
Suddenly in the darkness of his cabin, his phone's screen lighten up and caught his attention. He assumed that it'd be another cursing text from Anirudh and the screen turned off. He stayed fixed on the sofa and didn't bother himself to check his phone. As he closed his eyes and lied, his mind raced with haunted thoughts for Vidya. He became restless and walked to the desk, blood dripping on the floor as he walked. He grabbed his phone from his left hand and the notification made him froze at his place.
"Alert: Accident detected. Emergency services notified." Text from GPS App.
The phone slipped from his hand and he fell on the floor, tears dripping down silently. He refused to accept what he just read. He stretched his arm and picked his phone from the floor. After re reading the text, he checked if the app has some issues but it was showing the location and time of accident. He instantly ran to the garage and made his way to the accident spot. On the way he dialled Anirudh's number. His call went unanswered. After making ten calls he gave up and accelerated his car. He covered an hour's distance within thirty minutes.
As he reached at the location, he found few people and police inspector who was busy interrogating a man. He rushed to them and everyone else bowed down after acknowledging him. They were too stunned to speak anything after seeing a devasted Mrityunjay who's shirt was undone, hand was bleeding and eyes were swollen but who stood in front of them asking only one question,
"Kaha hai Meri Vidya?"
(Where is Vidya?)
"Sir, she'd been admitted to Chauhan's Hospital." The inspector answered and added pointing towards the truck driver who was nervously sweating, "He's the truck driver who crashed into Rani sa's Car."
Mrityunjay's gaze was no less than fire, he looked at him and grabbed him by caller. The constables tried to free him but they failed. The surroundings were filled with murmers.
