Author's Pov

The morning light slipped through the curtains, brushing against her face. Still half-asleep, Vidya stretched her arms, reaching instinctively for Mrityunjay-a habit she had picked up in just a week.

But her hand touched nothing. The bed was empty.

Her eyes flew open. He wasn't there.

"He must be in the washroom..." she whispered to herself, clinging to hope. But when she checked, it was empty.

Her heartbeat stumbled. She hurried downstairs, her eyes scanning every corner-the kitchen, the hall, the study. Silence.

Fear gripped her chest as she rushed outside. The backyard, the garage, even the snow-covered street-he was nowhere.

Breathless, she stumbled back inside. And that's when she saw it-on the drawer, right beside her phone.

An envelope.

Her fingers trembled as she picked it up, her vision already blurred by tears. She hadn't even opened it, but her heart screamed in protest, begging her not to. Still, she unfolded it slowly, and with every line, her world collapsed.

The Letter

Vidya Rudravanshi,

Kahi tum bhool toh nahi gayi... jo tumne humare saath kiya tha?
Wo jhooth, wo contract, aur wo dhokha?

Tumne humse shaadi paiso ke liye ki thi. Aur ab, un paiso ke badle, hum ek hafta tumhare saath bita chuke hain.

Tumhe kya laga... hum tum jaisi ladki se pyaar karenge?
Kabhi nahi.

Nafrat hai hume tumse, Vidya. Itni nafrat, jitni shayad tum soch bhi nahi sakti.
Aur tumse bhi zyada... khud se hai. Tumse pyaar karne ke liye.

Tumhare dhokhe ka badla le chuke hum.
Aur jo pal tumhe sach lage, jo muskaan tumne apni samjhi... sab ek khel tha.

By the time she reached the end, her knees gave way. She crumpled to the floor, gasping for air, her cheeks wet with relentless tears.

Every kiss, every hug, every laughter they had shared-replayed before her eyes, now twisted into daggers stabbing her soul.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME, JAY!" she screamed-

And jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her chest heaving for breath.

After catching her breath, Vidya scanned the room in panic.
Mrityunjay wasn't there.

She wanted to convince herself it was just a nightmare, yet the fear of abandonment crept back, tightening around her chest. What if the dream had become reality?

Her trembling fingers pulled open the drawer-but no letter. Relief didn't come. Her lips quivered as she called out, "Mrityunjay! Mrityunjay!" She knocked frantically at the bathroom door, but he wasn't inside.

Her pale face reflected her dread as she descended the stairs. Every step was slow, her breaths shallow. She checked the kitchen, the study, the hall-empty.

Tears welled up as she staggered out into the snowy garden, her bare feet sinking into the frost, but she didn't feel the cold. Her eyes scanned the white silence until they landed on a familiar figure brushing snow from the car.
