Harry:
"Let's see if I got this straight." I begun, all eyes on me. "I'll be used as bait and you'll only interfere once I ask for help?" Not a very nice plan if you asked me, but they were the bosses and I had to comply. All for Elizabeth, I kept chanting inside my head.
"You'll have a device strapped to your wrist, so you can press the button if you need help. On the inner side of your jacket, on your pants and strapped to your calf. We'll have bugs so we can listen to your conversations." I nodded, fully aware of what I had to do. I would have to make Benjamin confess, and that wouldn't be particularly easy. I needed to make him angry but not too angry. The leverage would be all his, and maybe I could end up with a bullet on my head.
"You'll be protected Harry. Our best interest is everyone's physical integrity." Sebastian's words were nice, but I knew not many people shared his view. I was feeling like a caged animal, my every move being watched by curious agents.
All of them loathed me, but I couldn't give a fuck about it. As long as I could ensure Elizabeth's help, I would take silent glares any time. The only one who really bothered me was Diana and her smug attitude. She acted like the boss, which I knew she wasn't.
"Guys, you are all dismissed for a quick break. I wanna speak to you, Harry." They all seemed disappointed, and I watched as some of them leaving with displeasure, mainly Diana. She glared at Sebastian but left, until we were alone.
I looked at him and tried to understand what went through his mind. Sebastian was a little bit taller, and I had to admit he was good looking. He could easily be me if his life choices had been different.
"You're in love with her, aren't you?" I begun, my question sounding more like a statement. This conference room was boring me endlessly, so I took a seat at the main chair. With boldness and somewhat mockery I placed my feet atop the table and watched as he took a seat beside me and shook his head.
"You've got it all wrong." He stated.
"Enlighten me then." I spoke, remembering that shitty 50 shades of Grey movie. I tried to suppress a chuckle meanwhile Sebastian seemed utterly puzzled by me. I liked to know that I could easily read people although they couldn't do the same.
"That's not the type of information I am willing to share with you. But just to make you calmer, I am not in love with her." He blushed and I shook my head, wondering why people lied so much if they couldn't conceal their body reactions. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't simply punch him just because of Elizabeth. As of now, Sebastian was my most cherished ally.
"You can admit it. I don't mind a little competition, mainly because I never lose." I told him confidently, looking absolutely bored with this place and this conversation. I had to find ways to keep myself busy until rescuing Elizabeth, and the thought of failure scared me to death. I couldn't focus on the fear, so I just chose to play a character I was entirely familiar with.
"I've already told you. I am not competition. Either way, I wanted to discuss the plan with you one more time." I gave him a small nod of acknowledgement, discreetly looking down at my watch. We still had 10 hours to go.
"Don't play the hero. I mean it, Harry. We have a plan, we stick to the plan. Elizabeth's safety is at stake here." He was mentioning her as a way to keep me tamed and I had to admit it was working. Sticking to the plan was my first idea, but I would gladly change my mind if it benefited Elizabeth. Obviously, the agency didn't share my opinion.
"I know precisely where I have to go, which room she's in, how to use a gun and how to make Benjamin confess. I am completely focused, as usual." The time for playing the con artist had gone by, so I removed my feet from the table and stared into Sebastian's eyes. He looked as tired as I did.
