The last week of December and early January had past quickly. I spent most of the time over at Luke's - he was next door. Not to mention the fact that I was fascinated by the fact that he had the entire transformers buildables collection. The school year started in January in Australia which happened to be their summer. I am still getting used to it. As I say, it's still not my home.
.........................
The rain splashed against my black Clarks school shoes and up onto my grey knee high socks as I made my way to the bus stop just outside mine and Luke's house; my mum babbled in mine and my brothers ears checking in that we had everything. I nodded along pretending that I was even remotely listening. When we had finished our short 5 meter walk to the bus stop Luke was already there so she decided that it was ok to leave as she 'had' to get to work. My brother Max sundered off standing about a meter away from Luke and I and plugged his headphones into his ears. I didn't say anything to Luke, I just stood their like he wasn't there. Of course, he wasn't going to stand for that.
"Why the frowny face?" He poked, turning me round to face him.
"I though it was supposed to be the summer." I replied bluntly.
"And that means it can't rain? What happens if the clouds want it to rain?" He moped scrunching his eyebrows together,
"I don't know then it rains." I stated
"Exactly." He smirked knowing he had won. He wasn't finished though.
"Nice pink spotty rain coat," he smirked glancing me up and down,
"Have you got a problem with it?" I laughed knowing putting up a fight would be useless. He would win.
"No I do not." He said. "As a matter of fact I quite like it." I raised my eyebrows causing him to alliterate his previous statement.
"I just never imagined you to to wear it. Being pink and all."
"There is nothing wrong with pink." I was being deadly serious.
" I never said their was," he smiled "I like pink. You just don't strike me as a 'pink' type of girl," he laughed causing me to laugh along with him.
" I also like your Mickey Mouse back pack," he cocked his head, "very," he paused, "Disney." We both laughed again causing little droplets of water to fall into my mouth.
"Don't stare at the sky, it might get embarrassed," he said deadly serious to me as it seems I had started to daydream and stare at the sky with my mouth wide open.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry sky I didn't mean to cause any harm," I laughed looking up into the sky, "can we just forget this ever happened and move on. Also I'm sorry about the rain, if I think about it your probably just being considerate, seeing as the grass was probably thirsty-" Luke cut me off before I could carry on,
"The bus is here, try not to bore the sky to death."
"I think you mis interpret the sky Luke hemmings, it might get lonely." He laughed at me and waved his had towards the big yellow school bus that was hovering in front of us, " I'll go first," he smiled, "Show you the ropes." I nodded and watched him climb onto the bus. I quickly followed him, my brother behind me, also worried that the bus might drive off. Luke simply walked down the aisle and picked some seats around the middle of the bus and sat down, looking up as I sat down after him. I gazed around the bus and said, "They don't have these in England." Before like could answer a boy with a strong Australian accent who looked about 2 years older (likely Max's year) leaned forward from behind and said, "Ah ha, we have ourselves some Englishmen" he gestured towards Max and I who was sitting in front of me and Luke. My brother nodded and I smiled causing him to carry on his one way conversation, "So where ya from?" He asked, Max luckily answered for us sensing I was uneasy, "Just outside London." He smiled. The boy who had now introduced himself as Ashton but insisted we call him Ash carried on talking, "Nice place London?" Once again Max answered with a simple, "Yes." That seemed to tick all his boxes and he leaned back saying, "Nice to meet you anyway," he smiled suddenly producing this loud giggle as the person sitting next to him whispered something in his ear. I suddenly felt very self conscious and found myself going bright red. Luke gripped hold of my arm. I thought at first he was reassuring me that everything was ok, but, as his grip tightened I saw he was glancing across the bus to a boy who was sitting at the back with ashy blonde hair who was scowling slightly which made even me feel uneasy. Next to him was a boy with dark brown hair who was laughing, completely oblivious to the situation. He them tapped the other boy on the shoulder, telling him something which made him laugh causing him to take his attention of which I had discovered was Luke. I felt Luke relax a little which made me relax. I instantly swung myself around to face Luke and immediately said, "Are you ok?" He didn't answer me just stared at the floor. I nudged him but he did nothing. I decided to brush it off and instead pay attention to where we were heading, consequently, leaning over Luke, practically lying on him. Just, to look out the window.

Walking through the school corridors was a strange concept to me. My Primary School in England didn't really have corridors, they were more hallways like you have in your house but lead from one classroom to another. Transferring from a tiny village school to a massive primary school in Australia was daunting. I told myself that everything was going to be alright. Just put one foot in front of the other and walk. I held onto Luke so tight I think that I might have cut off his circulation. He said nothing, we walked through the corridors passing the odd person who would stare at me, being the new girl and all. I would smile at them, trying not to make enemies would be a good start on the first day. Who knows where Max was, he had just marched off the moment we had got off the bus. I had Luke and that was all that mattered. The first day had gone without a hitch. Luke had introduced me to two of his friends: Lewis and Will. I had smiled at sat there while they did, well, 'friend' things. I also met two girls: Lucy and Amy. Lucy had much darker hair than my dark blonde locks, her eyes were a vibrant blue compared to my light green eyes. Amy on the other hand was bright blonde with dark brown eyes. They were nice people, I liked them. They were fun. Part of me had given in, I was here for good. There was nothing I could do about it. The strong part of me was back at home in England. It felt like out here, I was slowly falling apart.
I sat curled up on my window seat engulfed by cushions. Glancing around my room, I realized that I hasn't really unpacked much, part of my 'protest' which was failing miserably. Deciding that now wasn't the time to unpack, I remained where I was, staring out the window, living in my thoughts. Suddenly, something bounced off my arm. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion looking around for this mystery object, when I finally came across a Lego police car wheel. I glanced up to the open window that faced Luke's room. He wasn't there. Pulling my eyes away, something else hit me, followed by a couple more items. Looking around again, i found, a Lego steering wheel, a siren along with a Lego person with blonde hair and a Lego car chair. I looked up to Luke's window and saw him standing there with the biggest grin on his face. I couldn't help but laugh and went up to the window to speak to him.
"Miss Walshe, would you care to come to the park?" He questioned
"Master Hemmings, I would love to." I grinned, grabbing my pink converse and heading down the stairs. I passed my mum through the kitchen who was making dinner, I told her where I was heading and she nodded calling after to me to be back for dinner. I ignored her, skipping through the front door, making a mental note to be back in time. I shut the door behind me, linked arms with Luke and skipped off to the park.

Sorry that not much happened in this chapter, it's an introduction/filler for what's to come in the story. I wrote part of this sitting on my window sill because I really want a window seat... The window was open so I was practically hanging out the window. Also it was very uncomfortable and parts of me have gone num. Anyway I hope you enjoyed it! Vote /comment if ya want and feel free to message me :) Thank you!
