I sat on the bench at the train station, my heart pounding. Physically I was alive. But inside, I felt empty. Nothing was left, but the thud of my racing heart.
This had been my only chance, and I messed it up. I was so selfish, that I didn't think. My emotions over came me and I acted stupidly. My heart ached. One, because I had just run a good 2 miles. Two, it ached for him. I pushed the one person away who I wanted the most in that moment.
With my mind swimming with thoughts, I couldn't process anything. I had just skipped a day of school, to meet my childhood best friend, who hates me. Great day so far. So when it was announced that all the trains were delayed due to wind, I took it as a sign. A sign that I wasn't meant to leave just yet. I had to sort this out.

Half an hour later, I was once again stood outside Luke's house. My hand hesitated by the doorbell, but it failed to move. The door swung open before I could move. But it wasn't luke at the door. Despite the fact I hadn't seen whose arms embraced me, I just knew it wasn't him. Nevertheless, I appreciated it all the same. Breathing in the links deodorant, I pulled back smiling at Michael, who blushed sheepishly.
"I thought you had died," he gushed. I didn't reply, but my face said it all.

"He's upstairs." He paused for a moment as if he had finished, but then continued. "I don't know what happened between you two, and I don't want to know, because I know you both, and this.." He gestured to my sad mood, "well, it can't last. The two of you are like Marshall and Ted. One day, you'll just have to make up, because your friends for life. Regardless of what happens." I smiled at him, pulling him into a hug once more. This gave me the confidence I needed. How I met your mother always, gives me the confidence I need. So, upstairs I went to face my dreams and fears that lay in the room, at the end of the corridor.
