Do you believe in fate?
Do you believe that when you meet and love someone genuinely in this lifetime, you get to meet them in the next one?
Well, Jennie does.
"Mom?" Ashia, in her late 30s, approached the old woman who was currently sitting in her wheelchair while holding a picture frame. "Penny for your thoughts?"
Jennie, the woman who has still her soft but wrinkled porcelain skin and white hair, gave her daughter a weak smile. "It's her 70th birthday, Ash." Looking down on the gravestone where her lover's name was engraved. "And I still remember the first time I saw her, holding the camera like her life was depended on it."
Ashia rubbed her mother's arms as she moved behind, hugging her. She knows. All this time, she also remembers how her Mommy La used to tell her the story of how the two of them met.
When she was alive, Lisa grabbed all the opportunities as much as she could to tell her life story to their daughter. It was hard. There are different episodes she had to deal with because her case wasn't as normal as it seemed.
It was hard to remember but she did.
She did all she could even if she forgets, someone will remember. Someone aside from her wife. She wanted to share fortunate and unfortunate things that happened in her life. Lisa wanted to tell the world how they should see Jennie. The woman who she forgets but remembers at the end of the day and managed to fight against all odds. She may have long forgotten, but she wanted them to remember her.
Her Jennie.
So Ashia did that for her. She is now one of the best authors of her generation. One of her books that sold a hundred or more thousand copies around the globe is the one she made for her parents. The one where it's Lisa's point of view.
A lover, a photographer, an Alzheimer's patient, a person who forgets, a person who remembers, and a person who dedicated her life to being a good wife and a good mother.
It touched a lot of souls, knowing that it was based on a true story. This is what she promised to her Mommy La before passing away at the age of 50. Ashia made it.

"Mom, call us when you need something, okay?" Ashia told her Mommy Jen as her husband helped her lay the old woman on her bed. "We're just in the next room. Just press the buzzer." Her eyes moved to the buzzer on the nightstand beside her mother's bed. Just in case of emergency.
Jennie weakly nodded. "Get some rest, Ash. You've done enough."
Ashia flashed a smile. "Anything for you and Mommy La. I love you. Good night." she kissed her mother's forehead disappearing into the room.
In just a minute or two, tiredness pulled old Jennie to slumber. She prayed to God to see her wife who she misses so dearly in her dreams.
Feeling a little dizzy, Jennie found herself waking up in someone's arms. The sunlight touching her skin confusingly felt cold but the warmth coming from the person beside her makes it comfortable and tolerable.
Opening her eyes slowly, a perfect side profile of a woman in her 20s currently in a deep slumber appeared in front of her.
