As we stepped into the room, the warmth of the night still clung to my skin, the echoes of my confession lingering between us. Arjun walked ahead, silent as always, his phone pressed to his ear. I should have looked away, given him his space, but my gaze remained fixed on him.
He stood by the balcony, the cool breeze tousling his hair, his back to me. But it wasn’t the sight of him that made my breath hitch—it was the way he held my slippers in one hand, absentmindedly, as if he had forgotten to put them down.

Something about that moment, about him, about us, made my heart ache in the best way.

Before I could think twice, my feet moved on their own. I stepped closer, wrapping my arms around him from behind, pressing my cheek against his back. He smelled like salt and the ocean breeze, like something I wanted to breathe in forever.
He stilled for a second, then let out a soft sigh, his fingers gently finding mine, holding them where they rested against his stomach. My heart thudded against his back as his grip tightened, and then—he smiled. I could feel it, even without seeing.

With one hand, he ended the call, his attention shifting completely to me.
And in that quiet moment, I knew—I wasn’t just someone he cared for. I was someone he held onto, even without realizing it.

His fingers tightened around mine for a lingering moment before he turned. The sea breeze played with his hair as he looked at me, something unreadable yet impossibly tender in his gaze. Without a word, he cupped my cheek, his thumb brushing against my skin as he leaned in and pressed a slow, lingering kiss to my forehead.

My eyes fluttered shut. The warmth of his lips, the way he held me—it was a feeling I wanted to drown in.
When I opened my eyes, my heart was racing. I met his gaze, a soft smile tugging at my lips as I whispered, “Did I make you wait too long?
Arjun’s brows furrowed slightly, but there was amusement in his voice as he asked, “Make me wait for what, love?”

I didn’t answer, not with words. Instead, I tiptoed, pressing my lips to his in a kiss that carried everything I had ever felt for him. And when I pulled away, I whispered against his lips, “Make me yours, Arjun.”
His hands, warm and steady, rested on my waist, holding me close but not pulling me in the way I craved. He exhaled, a soft smile ghosting his lips.
There’s no rush, love,” he murmured, his voice a soothing caress against my skin. “We don’t have to do this right now.” His thumb traced my jaw, his eyes dark with restraint. “You need to be worshipped, not used.”
A soft laugh escaped me, and I kissed the corner of his eye, feeling the way his breath hitched against me. “Then worship me, Arjun,” I whispered. “Tell me I’m the goddess in your life.”
A groan rumbled in his chest as he pressed his forehead to mine, his grip on my waist tightening. His restraint was slipping, I could feel it in the way his body tensed against mine.
