Free Falling part one
Oh God she was nervous, so incredibly nervous. She had no idea how she had gotten herself into this situation, not that it was a bad situation, going on a date with Calvin Harris, but God she was nervous. I haven't done this in a long time she thought to herself. What if I'm incredibly awkward, what if I'm not what he thinks I am. All of these doubts ran through Taylor's head as she gripped the white marble counter top in her bathroom, her tense reflection staring back at her. Her makeup was half done, her clothes laid out on her white ruffled comforter behind the door of her bathroom on her bed. She had thought she was ready for this, she had felt so sure of herself, but now the doubts were making their way into her mind. Finally she took a deep breathe, steadied herself, leaned into the mirror, and whispered to herself, "get it together Taylor, it's a date, a fucking date, people do it all the time, get over it", she surprised herself when a bad word slipped out of her mouth. That only happened when she got worked up about something and her mind worked faster than her mouth, not allowing her time to process and filter. Taylor took a step back from the mirror and picked up her cover girl mascara and deftly applied it to her remaining eyelashes. She finished off her makeup with a touch of a nude-pink lipgloss. She put her makeup away mainly so that the cats wouldn't get it, Olivia had made quite a mess the week before when she used the lipstick as a toy, smearing it all over the white tile Taylor had in her bathroom. Taylor's bare feet crossed the cool tile of the bathroom as she made her way to the bedroom, her bright red toenails creating quite a contrast to the stark white tile of the bathroom. She stood in front of her bed, hands on her hips as she began to debate her outfit choice. Should she wear the dress she had already picked out, or was that to formal? What about a skirt, or maybe some fancy shorts? Taylor couldn't figure out why she was so flustered by all of this, the clothes, the makeup, everything. Was she unnaturally nervous, yes, but why? When she met Adam at the Brits he was extremely friendly, not at all flirty like people assumed. So it took her by surprise when he texted her wanting to know if she would be willing to go out to dinner with him some time. She has waited a day to text him back. She wanted to get her emotions in check and figure out what she wanted, she was very unsure if this was it. Ah that had to be it, Taylor thought to herself, I'm not sure if I even want this, if I'm even prepared to date or have a relationship in the public eye again. She was worried what people would think, as usual, she was trying to get over that. Finally she made the decision to just put on the dress. Adam was going to be here soon anyways and she didn't want to make him wait on her. She slipped the light grey cotton dress on over her nude lace bra and matching under wear, shivering as the metal zipper made contact with her back. She adjusted the dress, then reaching back she zipped it. She pulled a pair of nude Jimmy Choo pumps from her closet and slid them onto her feet. She grabbed her purse on the way out of her room and made her way downstairs. She walked into the kitchen, the sound of her heels on the tile causing her cats to run out in a panic, providing a moment of relief for her as she giggled. She opened her stainless steel fridge and pulled out a smart water, on second thought she grabbed another so that she could offer one to Adam. She closed the refrigerator door and glanced at the clock on the microwave, 6:57. He would be here any second. Alright, she thought to herself, deep breathes, this isn't a big deal, you are just going out to dinner to get to know each other, it's not like your getting married and having kids next week. Because of the way the media portrayed her not to many people were aware that she was afraid of commitment. She wanted it but was afraid of it. In the back of her mind she was always worried about being abandoned. More like falling in love and then being abandoned. But tonight she had decided that she wasn't going to think about that, she was going to have fun and enjoy herself. Suddenly the buzzer outside her door let out a chime, pulling her away from her thoughts. She grabbed her purse and made her way over to the door. She stood in front of the door and took a deep breathe, something she had to remind herself to keep doing. She reached for the door knob and carefully pulled the door open, slowly revealing the figure standing in the hall way. She let out the tiniest audible gasp, causing Adam to let out a soft chuckle. He looked, well, sexy. And he was holding a huge bouquet of flowers. Taylor tried to cover her little slip up by exclaiming " I can't believe you got those for me, you really shouldn't have, but they are so pretty, how did you know that I love lilies? Well you couldn't have, but that's beside the point. Well I guess I need to put these in some water." Taylor turned an even deeper shade of red as she realized that she was rambling on about the stupid flowers, well they weren't stupid, they were sweet. She just shook her head and walked back inside. Suddenly a voice called out " um Taylor is it alright if I follow you inside, I don't to intrude or anything but that cat looks like it's going to make a run for it." Taylor paused and turned even more red if at all possible. She turned around and walked back over to the door. " Yeah, absolutely, I'm sorry that was incredibly rude of me, I'm a little flustered if you couldn't tell." She smiled sheepishly and let him in, closing the door softly behind him. " Thats quite all right" was Adams reply, " I find it endearing actually, and cute." He smiled at her, and suddenly she felt reassured. She couldn't quite put her finger on why, but she liked it. That him smiling at her was all it took for her to feel better. She walked into the kitchen and Adam followed behind her. She kept kicking cat toys out of the way and couldn't figure out why for the life of her she hadn't put them away. " Sorry about the cats toys" she said a bit awkwardly, " you can tell who runs the house", she turned around and gave him a small smile. Adam just laughed and reassured her that it was no big deal. They arrived in the kitchen and Taylor pulled out a vase and filled it with water. This reminded her of the water she set aside for Adam earlier. She turned to face him as his gaze was causing her back to burn. She knew he was watching her as she leaned up on to her toes to grab the vase, she also knew that her dress had undoubtedly ridden up, giving him a little bit more of a view to look at then she had intended. He cleared his throat and continued to look at her. She began to blush again, this was really getting out of control she thought to her self. He spoke up and said in a quiet voice " you look very pretty tonight Taylor, absolutely beautiful." She was a little taken aback by the bluntness and direct nature is his statement. She mumbled a quiet thank you and continued to cut the flowers and situate them in the vase. Completely forgetting about the water. This was all very amusing to Adam, the pop star Taylor Swift was very different from the actual Taylor. More real life, more accessible, and definitely normal. He liked it, a lot. Once she was done with the flowers Adam asked her if she was ready to go, explaining that he had made reservations at a restaurant down the street. She nodded sweetly at him and said " absolutely, let's go!". She was finally calming down, and was actually feeling relatively calm compared to her earlier state of mind. He grabbed her hand once they were in the elevator, glancing at her for approval. She smiled at him, surprised by the sudden gesture, but was very pleased by it. As the elevator made it's way down to the first floor Adam struck up a conversation about the Brits. He was asking her if she had enjoyed it and what she thought of everything. She replied explaining to him how much she loved it over seas and that she always enjoys it. " what was your favorite part of the night" she asked him. " well there was this one performance that I really enjoyed," he kept his eyes on her the entire time, " there was this girl, she was stunning and an incredible performer," Taylor was kind of unsure of where this was going but as Adam continued she caught on. " Afterwards I caught up with her" continued Adam, " and she was just as nice and charming as she was pretty, so I asked her out and now we are on an elevator heading to dinner, so as an extension of that night, right now is my favorite moment." This surprised Taylor, she was taken aback by how honest and unashamed he was about how he felt. She smiled at him and replied " wow, that must be an incredible girl." "Oh she is " replied Adam. He squeezed her hand and kept his eyes on her, a small grin across his face. Suddenly they both realized that they were on the first floor and had been standing there for some time. Adam lightly pulled Taylor out of the elevator and walked her out to the waiting car. There was no paparazzi because they all thought that Taylor was in LA, since she had secretly flown into Nashville early that morning. The driver stepped out to get the door for them, but Adam motioned for him to let him do it instead. He opened the door for Taylor and held her hand as she slipped in. She didn't want to let go either, they were both craving the contact that their hands were providing. In the car Taylor sat in the middle, allowing her knew to bump Adams now and then as they drove to the restaurant. They kept up a lovely conversation the entire drive, Adam was constantly making Taylor laugh, then blush. Before she realized it they had arrived at the restaurant, a small, cozy Italian place. Time does fly when your having fun taylor thought, this caused her to let out a giggle and a smile. Adam quizzically looked at her " what is it Taylor?" He inquired, " oh nothing" she replied, she was finally coming out of her shell and cheekily responded to his question " I was just thinking that time flies when your having fun!" They walked into the restaurant and were promptly seated in the back in a quiet corner. They sat down and ordered some wine, well wine for Taylor and a soda for Adam. Soon there delicious food had arrived, chicken for Adam and a pasta dish for taylor. They held hands across the table which was unusual for taylor. Usually she shied away from public contact but tonight it didn't matter. She was to caught up in their conversation to care or even be aware of what was going on around her. Before either of them had realized it a waiter approached them to remind them that they were about to close. What thought taylor, where had the time gone? They had arrived around 7:45 and now it was almost 12:00. She couldn't believe and just looked at Adam. He laughed at the surprised expression on her face and said " time flies when your having fun." She just sighed and smiled back at him shaking her head. "Alright then mister smarty, we should
be heading back to my place." They had thoroughly gotten to know each other over the past couple of hours. Taylor was amazed by all the information and life stories of his he provided her with, and in turn she was amazed at what she had told him. She had let him in, this man that she barely knew a few hours ago, but now knew extremely well, she had let him in. It took her months to do that, not just for guys but for her girl friends to. They slowly walked back to the car which was waiting outside, Adams armed draped around her waist. She craved his contact, that was new to her, she constantly wanted to feel his touch, and so did he. Once they were situated in the car, Taylor's head resting on Adams shoulder, his hand rubbing circles on her back, she looked up at him and said " thank you for such an incredible night, if you couldn't tell I was pretty nervous before, but now I feel calm and well just relaxed and weirdly happy," she sighed and locked her gaze into his, " I like that a lot, the comfort I mean, and of course you to since you know you are the once providing the comfort, oh god now I'm getting all flustered again, you know what I mean" she tilted her head up and smiled shyly at him. " Adam, I let you in tonight, I wasn't planning on it, I hope you know that, there's something here and I hope you feel it to, it's just that I'm free falling now and I need to know if your gonna catch me?"
