It was six months into Taylor and Adams relationship. Everything was going great, they hardly ever fought and if they did it was about minor things and all was forgotten within and hour. Adam had all but moved in with Taylor, all of his things had slowly migrated over to her house in LA. They were great, they were stable, but Taylor was terrified that it was going to change.
Taylor looked at her self in her bathroom mirror, she didn't look any different, not yet anyways. Oh god, she wasn't even sure, she always over though things and thought way to far ahead. Suddenly Taylor jumped, Adam had appeared behind her and she could see his reflection in the mirror. He slowly walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his hands on her stomach. He rested his head on her shoulder and just studied her. He could tell that something was off, she was quiet and absorbed in her own thoughts. "Taylor, love, I can tell that something's bothering you, if you tell me I might be able to help you" murmured Adam into her ear. Taylor just sighed, turned around and shook her head. She placed a silent kiss on his lips and walked out of the bathroom. She slowly lowered herself onto the bed and grabbed a pillow and blanket and snuggled in, turning on the TV. Adam silently walked over and laid down next to her, pulling her into his chest. He didn't ask any more questions, he figured that she would tell him when she was ready, whatever it was. And until then he would just lay here with her and love and support her. But deep down Adam was worried. Taylor told him absolutely everything, what was going on that she couldn't or wouldn't tell him.
Taylor found an episode of Friends after flipping through the channels for a few minutes. It was the episode where Rachel finds out that she's pregnant. Perfect thought Taylor to herself, just wonderful. She couldn't control it, she had so many pent up emotions that she was dying to share with Adam. She needed his support, she was just worried she wouldn't get it.
She burst into tears and buried her head in Adams chest. Adam sat there, stunned, watching his girlfriend turn into a sobbing mess. What had set her off, they were only watching friends, she loved friends. He couldn't figure it out. Adam pulled her even closer, hugging her tightly. He began to run his hand up and down her back, trying to soothe her. "Taylor whatever it is, everything will be all right, love, I'm right here." "No it won't be" cried Taylor into Adams chest, "you'll leave, and I'll be alone and" sobs racked her body and she was unable to finish speaking. Adam was shocked at her words, they stung a little, worried him, and made him want to comfort her but nothing he seemed to do made her feel better. Adam began to whisper in Taylor's ear, now rubbing circles into her back. "Taylor please just tell me what's upsetting you," Adam was begging taylor to tell him. "Let me in please, I can help and I'll do whatever I can, but I can't do anything if you don't tell me, and I promise you that nothing you ever say or do will make me leave. I'm here forever and always. Promise" Adams soothing voice and promises to always be there helped calm Taylor down. Finally after what seemed like hours of uncontrollable sobbing Taylor calmed down. She pulled away from him and looked him square in the eye. She was going to tell him and let him in, she was ready.
In better hiccups and tiny sobs Taylor spoke, "I'm late Adam, I think, uh, I think I might be pregnant" she burst into tears again and turned away from him. She waited for him to yell or just get up and walk out, not wanting any of this. Instead she felt his strong arms wrap around her. He had knelt down on the floor next to the bed, and was just holding her. "Taylor I'm not going any where, you can stop waiting for me to leave" he informed her, reaching our to push a stray piece of her hair behind her ear. He stood back up and went to the other side of the end. He laid down next to her and rubbed her back. "Taylor, I love you, and obviously we need to talk about this and I need some more information, but I'm not leaving. I will be right here, and if you are indeed pregnant, which is doesn't sound like you are positive about, then we will have a blast getting to raise our child together, I always knew that I would have kids with you. Maybe not now, but eventually. And I will love them and love you no matter what. Just because it might be happening a little sooner than anticipated doesn't mean it's a bad thing, love." Taylor slowly rolled over to face him, her face puffy and red from crying to much. "You wouldn't be mad?" She asked quietly. "Never" replied Adam solemnly. "Maybe even a little bit excited, if I'm honest." Continued Adam, just wanting to let taylor know how he felt about this. "I'm not even positive, it was just weighing on me so much, and then the friends episode," ah that explains it thought Adam, Rachel was pregnant, "just made me loose it. But I uh, I'm almost 5 weeks late, which is un heard of for me, but I haven't taken a test yet." She stared deep into his eyes, trying to make sure that he wasn't freaking out. "Alright then, we should go to the store and get a test, and get a definite answer" "yeah, we should" agreed taylor.
On the car ride to the nearest pharmacy Adam held Taylor's hand the entire way. She kept looking over at him and kept catching him smiling. Finally she asked him about it "what are you smiling about you weirdo" she asked, laughing a little bit. Trying to relieve some of the tension in the car. Adam glanced over at her and said "honestly I'm imagining us with a baby, and I like it, a lot, this isn't going to be a bad thing Taylor, it will be fun, and exciting, and" taylor quickly cut him off "Adam I'm thrilled that you feel this way, eventually I would also be ecstatic also, but I'm not positive that I'm pregnant and I don't want you to get overly excited and then be let down if I'm not, okay?" Adam nodded yes to her and continued to drive.
The next 30 minutes of driving, going to the store, and driving home were dead silent. Both Adam and Taylor were contemplating this fork in the road in their minds. And both were secretly hoping that she really was pregnant, they just didn't want to say it out loud. They were both scared though, six months in to a relationship and then an unexpected pregnancy was a lot to handle. Finally they arrived back at Taylor's house and quickly but silently made their way upstairs. Adam still holding on to Taylor's hand. She grabbed the bag from him, barely making eye contact. Adam sat down on the bed and waited. He heard the door close and then a few seconds later the toilet flushed. A few minutes later taylor re appeared holding that stick like it was dynamite. She sat down next to him, her head on his shoulder. Waiting to see if a plus or a minus appeared. It felt like and eternity of waiting when the sign finally appeared, they both just turned to look at each other.
