Raynes P.O.V.
After winning another fight yet again I was ready to burn this place to the ground....I retrieved my phone and sent a text to everyone saying the coast was clear.. And to push the trigger in 10 minutes. By 9 minutes I would beat my apartment. Giving me an extra minute. I was golden... That is until HE stepped in.
Pulling me to the side to congratulate me. All I was thinking at the moment was how I was going to die in the next 5 minutes. I felt a calming feeling come down to me....I guess I deserve it...I killed all those people...
Maybe this was the moon goddesses punishment. I looked up when I heard the smallest beep and smiled softly...then was thrown back into the concrete wall.
The last thing I saw was my boss getting crushed by a thick wall of concrete...at least this was all over...
But the last thing I thought...was of Drake.
And then I blacked out.
Drakes P.O.V.
"It's all good. Her lights on in her apartment" I said into my phones speaker as I made my way up to her apartment after scanning the pass.
"OK I'm pushing the button now." Jayson said.
"OK-wait!!!!!" I said as I opened the door and saw a man in her apartment...sitting on the couch. Rayne wasn't here....
"Dude....I already pressed the button...." Jayson said through the speaker.
Fuck....
"Where is she?!" I yelled at the man.
"She's still at the center. What's going on? She tells me to get out and to meet her here and then she doesn't show up?" He said looking me dead in the eyes...sniffing he narrows his eyes. "Your a wolf..."
"So are you if you sniffed me to find out." I said back. "Come one we need to find Rayne."
"Okay...buts who's Rayne?"
"Rayne is my mate. My mate is the your greatest fear. You call her Kross."
"No fucking way man!"
"Yes way" I said pulling out and onto the road.
Coming up the the doorway to the Center...it was in flames...I couldn't live without her. She was still alive so I had time to find her.
We both race into the burning building searching and calling out her name as we heard the sirens call telling us that cops and firetrucks were on the way.
"Found her!!!" Jimmy screamed. He was struggling with a wall of concrete as I ran over to him. Helping him liftthe concrete I saw my little mate...unconscious.
Lifting her up into my arms bridal style I mindlinked Alpha William to contact a pack doctor at the local hospital and be ready for me to bring Rayne in. Tossing Jimmy the keys I tell him to drive me to the nearest hospital.
Once we reach the hospital and running Rayne in I'm sitting in the waiting room. She has to stay alive. The moon goddess wouldn't do this to me...she just wouldn't. Jayson was pacing...and Alpha William was talking to Luna, his mate, and reassuring her everything was going to be fine.
After 7 hours and 5 cups of coffee its 8:37 a.m. when the doctor finally shows himself. We surround him firing questions every which way when he raises his hand and points to me and Alpha William and motions for us to come with him.
After a good amount of distance between us and the rest of the gang we stop. Watching him fr any signs of negative information he doesn't say anything as he study's his hands.
"Is she okay?" I whisper.
"Sir, I don't know what's going to happen for sure. I've never felt with anything like this. Never had to tell someone else's mate things like this. But I can tell you 4 things and I'm going to be blunt but I want you to know that I do care...I just don't know how to tell you without just saying it." He said looking up at me.
"What's going on?" Alpha William said as he squeezed my shoulder.
"Four things actually. The first is your mate is extremely lucky...if hadn't been for the wolf DNA in her blood she would be dead. Second she has 4 times the brain cortex activity that we do. Third, we had to put her into a medically infused coma to try and help her...so once the medication wears off she will wake up. And lastly fourth, due to her brain cortex activity when her spinal cord was severed her brain sent signals to repair the spinal cord but instead of connecting the tissues like they are supposed to be, they are backwards...probably due to whatever position her body was in at the time. And we can't fix that without risking further damage. And quite frankly it would be too big of a risk to even attempt to try." He said looking at me.
"So what does that mean? Please simple terms...I'm not at my best right now....."
"Son...her brain is 4 times stronger, faster, smarter, she has full control over her body. Full control over herself. But with that comes a price. She has no wolf, and will never have a wolf."
"So what about her spine? She can fix herself right?" I said getting excited..
"I'm sorry son but no. I'm afraid so say this. But unless the Moon Godess herself fixes Rayne.. She will never be able to walk again. I'm so sorry. I tried everything I could without risking further damage."
"Thank you doctor." Alpha William said as he pulled me away from the doctor. "Look man she's still alive, she's still your mate, and she's going to be okay...just a little different now."
"She's never going to walk again man....ever. She's going to hate me for helping her live. She's going to reject me..."
"No she isn't. She promised remember?"
Nodding we made our way back to the doctor and asked if we could see Rayne. Nodding he gave me a small smile and showed us to her door. "She should wake up any time now so be sure not to overwhelm her." He said.
Nodding we made our way into the room and I sat down in a chair next to her and grabbed her hand and looked at her.
She looked beautiful. Not a scratch on her soft porcelain skin. "Drake" she whispered.
"Hey baby" I said softly.
"What's going on? Where am I?" She said looking around a little.
"The hospital."
"How long?"
"Just a few hours baby"
"Good lets go.." She said sitting up and looking at her legs as her heart monitor increased. "Why can't I move my legs?!" She said panicing.
"Baby look at me." I said grabbing her hand and kissing it. Hearing her heart slow back down I look up at her and see tears falling down her face. "It's going to be okay.."
"I'm broken...I can't walk...I'm broke.." She said crying.
"Your not broken baby girl...your perfect." I said sitting on her bed with her and wrapping my arms around her small body and gripping her head as she buried her face into my neck and shoulder and cried. "Shhh baby everything will be OK. Your going to be ok. Everything is going to be ok." I said as I let a tear fall.
Hides under a rock in a hole so nobody kills me....
