Summer Camp

That's how amazing it is
The way I get excited
Every time I remember
That one week of summer
When everything else
Ceases to exist
And it's just me
And my friends
And my God
It is campfire songs
And late night s'mores
Muggy cabins
And whispers at night
It's that amazing feeling
Of being disconnected
But being connected
Time stops
But the sun still rises
Because it doesn't matter
The time
Only the games and the food and bible studies
No screens and computer and Internet
Just bug spray and sunscreen
And mastermind pranks
That have me giggling
Waiting for them to find out
It's that rush of energy
That comes each morning
Even though I only got five hours of sleep
But I'm ready
It's that lingering sadness
That just won't leave
Even when I'm home
Even when I have air conditioning
Even when I take a real shower
Even when I know I can go back
I still have to wait a whole year
Because it's a blessing
A beautiful place
That left a deep impression
On my mind
On my soul
On my faith

Just last week I was at a summer camp. The Villages is an amazing place and left an impression on me. It was just...Aggg. This was my attempt of putting my experience into words.
