We light up the earth as high as our heads.
Complain in the dark and hide in our beds.
Often times we will wish for light
To save us from the dark night's fright
For I am nothing but a shadow on the ground
I attempt to escape you in great leaps and bounds
But for me to exist, there has to be you
We must work together to see the next clue
Without the creeping darkness in our lands
There is no need for the lights in our hands
I told you twice, kid, look up at the sky
You took a peek, looked down, you were quite shy
You were enamored, I saw, by sights so grand
Constellations in sky, shone down on the land
You were different, I knew
In what you liked to do
Stare up at the inky black night
Look up at the pinpricks so bright
I knew one day you would grow up to see
How everyone else thought, stupid and me
For what use would come from great balls of gas
Spinning light wreathes and so much empty mass
It is naught but a hobby they said
Into our minds and our hearts they read
Only the outer layer they could see
The rest was closed only for you and me
We had stars in our hearts and our minds
Many of love and some thoughts of kinds
Kid, I knew you would be great one day
Don't listen to any thing they say
Follow your dreams, no matter how wild
Live life to the fullest, please, dear child
Look up at the sky, not down at your feet
Your legacy will live, never delete
Turn off the lights and live in the clear
Don't be afraid of the dark, my dear
