When the coach wagon stopped they both got out and thanked the man. They interlocked arms and walked into the crowded town

"There's where we need to go." Riley said with a head nod toward a farmers market.
Sam started walking toward the market when a abrupt thing was put into his back.

"Don't stop walking." A deep rough mans voice said behind Sam. He walked them across the street to a bar and put the in the back room.

"Come on. Shapeshift  back to normal, because if you don't we will kill your mother."

"Our mother has been dead for a while now. How long has it been honey? Sixteen years?" Riley lied.

"Give or take a few years." Sam lied too.

"Tie them up guys." Two men grabbed Sam and Riley and struggled to put them in chairs and tie them up. Sam bit the mans hand and blood started to come out. The man reared back in pain, screamed, then backhanded Sam in the face. His face was red on one side.
The door opened and their mother came in with a knife to her throat. Her eyes said

"Don't shift back!"

"So let me ask you this again. Shift back or she dies." The main man said. Sam looked at Riley and blinked once, she blinked twice, and he blinked three times.
At the same time, they shifted into their own creatures and attacked. Riley shifted into a cat and was clawing the main man but Sam turned into a wolf and attacked the man holding his mother.
The man let go of his mother to block himself unaware that his mother took his knife from his hand. Sam killed the man with a bite to the neck filling his mouth with blood and flesh. Riley was struggling with the main guy.

"Get the others don't worry about me!"she shouted. Their mother was fighting two men with swords and she had a dagger. Sam jumped on the man two the right, killing him instantly. There was a gunshot but no pain came.  Everything went into slow motion he looked at his mother who just finished off the other man and turned to Riley who was in human form had a hole where her heart should have been but was bloody red. The main man was reloading his pistol and had scratch marks all over his face. Sam jumped and shifted into a lion and swiped his head clean off. He looked down at her dead body and shifted back to his gentleman's form. He heard his mother crying next to him, he reached down and pulled the wooden ring off his dead sisters hand and handed it to his mother

"Put this on." He said quietly. He put his trench coat over her and then he picked up his sister and left for the mountain.
