Chapter 15: Passing time...

The month of October quickly transitioned into November, most mornings the windows were frost covered and the fireplaces lit.

The only interesting things that happened in November involved our pranks, Peeves, or Professor Snape. The third option mostly involved him picking on me for things I didn't do, for example Flint very clearly threw his own ingredients into my potion, causing it to explode, but he still took ten points from Gryffindor! Then when I tried to explain it was Flint, he took five more points, saying

"You're just as arrogant as your father, always blaming others for your actions," he clicked his tongue, "Just like the very idiot himself. And do you know where he is? Azkaban! And I expect by the time you graduate- there will already be a cell waiting for you."

That stabbed me, and it went deep, I felt the tears that threatened to fall; luckily the bell rang and class was dismissed. It took me a bit longer to pack up my materials, and he glared at me the whole time.

I gave him a contumacious look, "You know. The past is a very powerful thing, it can change how someone sees life. The thing it can't do. Is change who they are inside. And it doesn't control your actions in the future. You do. So I suggest you stop using my past and who I am to torture me," I sighed, walking out, supplies in hand, and whispered what I said next, "someone already beat you to it."

After that, Snape backed off, he started picking on different students daily, but it still seemed he liked messing with me the most.

The winter holiday approached even quicker than the month of November. Then the question of where I was going to stay came to mind, and decided to bring the question up at dinner that night.

"Fred, George, I just realized. I don't know where I'm staying for the holiday..."

"Oh! Did we forget to tell you?" George mused as innocently as possible

"Mum sent you a letter with Errol today!" Fred cheered no more innocently than his brother, " and since you were in the washroom,"

The twins spoke in perfect unison (as predicted) to finish their statements, "we took the liberty of reading your letter! And you're staying with us for holiday!"

"As awesome as that is, you couldn't have waited for me to get back?"

"We don't know what you girls do in there!" Fred laughed

"We use the toilet then wash our hands! I mean occasionally some woman decides to touch up her hair, or makeup, but that's all!" I giggled out, but something hit me, and I stopped, "what do you think we do in there?"

"Ummmm... I am neither required to answer that, nor are my associates," I rolled my eyes at the idiocy of those two, but burst out laughing when I remembered we got identical grades and spent half our time together.

With realization of the lack of brains aside, the day ended quickly, and without much else happening.

Now the winter holiday hurdled towards us with ferocity and I could barely blink before I was boarding the Hogwarts' Express at the Hogsmeade Train Station.

I was exhausted from lack of sleep because Bex and Sammy, the roommates that seem to have it made out to keep me up until the wee hours of morning, were fighting. Over what? The "sickeningly cute" relationship Bex was in! I swore if I heard Sam complain about her brother's love life one more time, I would just die! And they're always ranting about these random American bands, in fact there are too many for me to keep up with anymore!

When I had found an empty compartment and gotten settled in, I had let Shimmer out of her cage and sit on my shoulder. I then sighed, resting my head against the cool glass of the train's window, Fred and George were trying to get my attention, but I could have cared less at that point. I felt like Shimmer almost knew how tired I was because every time anyone tried to wake me up, or touch my shoulder for the first five or so minutes of the train ride, I heard the snap of her beak. I knew that she wouldn't bite or nip anyone, she had yet to do so to any of the three of us.

Anyhow, I felt my eyes gently flutter shut while out the window as it had began to snow. I was tuning out anyone and everyone... Everything was so serene, I almost hadn't noticed someone pick up my hand.

I shot up, my eyes wide open. I noticed that Shimmer now sat in her cage, waiting patiently for the door to be closed, and that both Fred and George looked like they had been caught with their hands in the cookie jar; each holding their own quill and ink, ready to draw on my hands.

I yanked away, rolling my eyes and laughing before grabbing my change of clothes and exiting the compartment to get changed out of my school robes. By the time I had gotten back, both of them were wearing identical sweaters with their respective initials on them, and jeans. The two were now debating over how their names should be pronounced, Fred and George, or George and Fred.

I rolled my eyes at them again before getting out a mouse, tossing it to Shimmer, then closing the door to her cage and throwing myself back onto my seat.

I rubbed circles on my temples, smiling while chuckling and internally groaning. This was going to be a long train ride...

I am so sorry for abandoning you guys! I love you all, and there is an explanation for my absence in my bio for my profile! I will continue the chapter and will get the changes up by around midnight U.S. Eastern time tomorrow (24 hours from now) because I know this is short! Sorry! But I am trying to get 2000 words at least per chapter now, so. Yeah.
