I began running away from that spot, as she chased after me. "I'm confused," she said "where are we going?"
"Nowhere," I simply replied.
"Why?" She asked "I thought that was a bad place." I stopped suddenly and turned to look at her.
"It is, really bad, but we need to go there to find Adaline!" She looked at me quizzically,
"But-"
"Not buts, we're going there and that's final!" She rolled her eyes,
"Ok, ok" I smiled,
"Good!" I started walking again, looking around me for that big, black bird. As we walked, the bright green trees with pink blossoms got darker, and darker, Mabel started frantically looking around, as if something would pop up any second.
"Um, Everleigh?" Her eyes darted towards me.
"Yes, Mabel?" I glanced at her before my eyes went back to searching for the bird.
"Do you know where your going?" She asked. I peeled my eyes from the sky and turned to her again.
"Of course, doesn't this look a little like Nowhere in Somewhere?" She shrugged and said,
"I guess, but it's really creepy." She shivered.
"I know, but I think we're close." Suddenly, there was a loud, screeching caw in the trees above. I looked up quickly, and saw the bird looking somewhat evilly down at us. "How did you get here?" I asked myself. I studied the bird, it's long pointed beak, large, feathery wings, and sharp talons, all black.
"EVERLEIGH!" Mabel screamed as I was lost in thought. I snapped out of it to see the bird swoop down. I dogged, it's wide open beak just missing my head.
"RUN!" I yelled histarically, trying to get away from the bird. Mabel and I sprinted alongside, until my foot got snagged on a root. I tripped, putting my hands out to stop the fall. Mabel kept running, not noticing I had fallen. This was bad, very bad.
MABEL'S POV
All I did was run, faster and farther than ever. That bird, that demon bird tried to kill us. I had no idea what Everleigh was going on about, it's just a bird! I mean, isn't it? I slowed down, the bird no longer chasing us. "Good news Everleigh," I said turning around, "The bird is-" My eyes widened, she is "gone."
EVERLEIGH'S POV
The bird circled overhead, occasionally shrieking at me. I lay on the ground, my ankle throbbing. I need to get up, I need to find Mabel. I need to figure out how this bird got here. I looked up again, it was gone! I slowly sat up, cringing at my ankle. I turned and saw the bird behind me.
"How did you get here?" I asked it not really expecting an answer. Then, it opened its mouth and smoke came out, the black bird turning into a harmless white dove. It shook, then flew away.
"Well," I heard a voice say, "It's really simple." I turned and saw the same devious man from before looking down at me with a smug look on his face. "Good to see you again, sweet heart."
Sorry for another long wait! I have been super busy :( I'll try to update soon! :-)
